Age + Disability Friendly Novato Age + Disability Friendly Novato, supporting a Novato that works for ALL it's residents.

Age + Disability Friendly Novato is a group of local folks helping Novato with two important tasks:
● Regain our AARP Age-Friendly Designation
● Developing a plan to ensure Novato is both Age AND Disability
friendly

Age + Disability Friendly Novato is relaunching as a collaboration between community members and the City of Novato. We are a citizen group of volunteers working in partnership with the City towards achieving an Age Friendly Community designation from AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly Communities and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities as well as making our City friendly for people with disabilities and their caregivers. We will be raising community awareness, asking for your input, assessing the strengths and needs of our community, and drafting a strategic plan to influence the health and quality of life for residents of all ages and abilities. Join us in this conversation to create a vibrant, safe and inclusive community in Novato with a welcoming atmosphere in which to live, work, shop, play, and thrive.

Join us for an essential fall prevention workshop to learn how to stay safe, active, and independent. We will feature short presentations on improving balance and home safety, the role of medications in fall risk, and what to expect when calling 911 for a fall.

Age and Disability Friendly Novato and our partners are signed up for the Novato Parade on the 4th of July!

We would love for you to help spread the word about our Intergenerational Walk and Roll!

The Details:
ADFN organizers will be on site at the staging location (TBD) at 9:00 am prior to the parade start time at 10:00 am. Participants may join us at ANY time. We suggest stationing at Dr. Insomniac's around 9:30 for shade and snacks and joining us once we enter Grant Avenue (approx time TBD). If the parade length is too long, please jump into our line up at any time!
Car seating is limited, so please contact [email protected] to secure a spot.
ADFN will provide music, banners, and items to hand out to the crowd.
Join us! Decorate a wagon, wheelchair, or scooter! Wear inclusive gear and/or red, white, and blue!
It can be HOT! Please bring water, sunscreen, and a hat.

Katie Hughes, a dedicated volunteer with many organizations, including Age + Disability Friendly Novato, accepted the Proclamation from the City of Novato that the month of April 2026 is Autism Acceptance Month. Thank you Katie for all you do for Novato!

And, we are looking forward to the 5th Annual Spectrum Safety Event this Saturday, April 18th, from 12-2 @ Pocket Park.
