Burdell 1870s home and Victorian garden. Two brass crane statues for the garden were brought over by Mary Burdell and her girlfriend from their plant purchasing trip Japan. This was an early Victorian garden. It was possible because Mary Burdell didn’t have to wait for City water. The springs on her land fed their vast farm and gardens. In the 20th century it fed 7 dairies. Today it feeds Olompali and two dairies, The Silviera Dairy and the Corda Dairy. Dairies need a lot of water. The Burdell Creek flows year round.

An American badger was seen recently at Olompali’s 700 acres of land. The park stretches along the east-facing slopes of Mount Burdell, reaching an elevation of 1,558 feet, and overlooks the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay. Badgers are shy nocturnal animals so sightings are rare!
