Next Generation Unity is a place where we can explore our beliefs, ideas and experiences amongst friends, support and encourage personal growth for all young adults, and provide an opportunity to grow to live enlightened and awakened lives. We're them! Well, the old part at least. Jury's out on the cool part. Cool or not, we are reaching a place in our lives where we accept that we have a responsi
bility, and that what we do with our time and how we impact those around us is entirely our choice. It won't be long before our generation is making the decisions that will shape the world. In fact, we're doing it now. So what do we want to do with our lives? Are we doing everything we can? How do we choose to spend our time? Where do we choose to spend our energy? Can we have a positive and permanent impact on the world? We are a group of young adults with a passion for service and an interest in our continued personal growth. And because we don't even yet know our full potential, and because we consider ourselves lifelong students and explorers, our Purpose Statement remains a question: How can we make a difference? In attempt to answer that question we incorporate the core commitments of Unity in Marin:
We serve, we connect, and we grow. We serve Unity in Marin in various areas of need including Loving Kindness, campus beautification and upkeep, Youth and Family Ministry, and more. We serve our community by working with the Canal Community Alliance, supporting various environmental clean up projects, and being open to other service opportunities. We are committed to meeting once a month to fulfill one or more service projects. We serve the global community by supporting and working with the Daraja Academy in Kenya, a boarding school for girls that provides shelter, food and healthcare for girls who excel in academics and leadership but do not have the resources to continue their education. We support and encourage personal growth for all young adults, those raised in Unity, and those here for the first time. NGU is a stepping stone between Children's Church and Sunday Service. Our service projects provide an opportunity for us to live out the fifth principle: to walk the walk and put all what we have learned, and what we know, into action in our community and beyond. For those who are newer to Unity or are coming for the first time, NGU provides an opportunity to connect with other young people who are growing and learning to live awakened and enlightened lives.
