Marin County is working on unified, countywide strategy to defend our 110 miles of vulnerable shoreline. Led by the newly established Marin County Climate Office, this regional effort coordinates cities, local districts, and community partners to scale up infrastructure and nature-based defenses.

This initiative unites cities, local utility districts, and community organizations to develop a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional resilience framework.

Our Senior Program Director, Patti Juachon, has shared valuable insights and perspectives. We appreciate the collaboration with our partners, Coastal Quest, and the Marin Independent Journal, for their coverage of this significant initiative.

Two reports suggest the county should lead resilience efforts without creating a joint authority or special district, at least in the short term.

We’re still buzzing about our recent CPI Convening - Charting Our Shared Future: Clarity in Vision and Collective in Action! Over 80 grantees attended to discuss the future we’re headed toward, the challenges we face and the opportunities available to move us forward.

The Convening focused on understanding the policy and budget forces impacting the sector and the opportunities to design the future we want. Thank you to panelists Laura Pryor, California Budget and Policy Center, Andrew Cheyne, Welfare Directors Association of California, Melissa Jones, Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative, and Alex Tom from the for Empowered Politics for their insights on how we strategically and collectively move through this time. We were inspired by the opportunity to take a leap into the future, facilitated by the Collaborative.

As we continue our work to advance equity for people, places, and the planet, gatherings like these are important for creating shared clarity, establishing greater alignment, developing new thinking, building stronger relationships and fostering hope.
