Transportation Authority of Marin in cooperation with Caltrans and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission are holding an information session on on-ramp metering on Thursday 11/20 at 5:30 pm at the Mill Valley Community Center.

Highlights of the handout "Ramp Metering in Marin" which Supervisor Rice distributed, along with two other handouts about ramp metering, at her Community Mtg on 11/8/14:

What will the typical wait time be? "The wait time may range from a few seconds to a little over two minutes, depending on the ramp and the time of day. Carpools, van pools and buses will be able to bypass the meters and access the highly more quickly...on some ramps."

Can ramp metering result in a worsened condition? "Ramp metering will not worsen congestion. Unfortunately some of our roadways near the highway are already backed-up during commute periods without ramp meters. Ramp metering improves the flow of traffic on the Highway, and provides an overall benefit by smoothing the merging transition from the on-ramp to the highway. Because Highway 101 is used for so many local trips traveling within our neighborhoods improving the flow of traffic on the highway will provide an overall improved travel experience for Marin residents."

Let's Light up San Marin for the Holidays!

With Halloween decorations now in evidence all over the neighborhood, holiday season is about to kick off again! Right after pumpkin day, on November 1st, boy scouts from Troop 42 will be out delivering flyers around San Marin, as they have for the past half century, for the annual Christmas Luminaria event.

In years gone by the San Marin display was the biggest west of New Mexico, but as residents moved on, the tradition gradually declined to about half its former glory. It would be nice to rekindle some of that glow.

To that end, Troop 42 are looking to bring back “block captains.” In previous years these local volunteers, usually one on every street, reminded neighbors to order flats and arranged to fill in "dark spots" if someone would be away on Christmas eve. It’s a simple way to strengthen community spirit as well as increase the feel-good glow of the neighborhood. If that sounds easy and you would like to help enhance the traditional Christmas Eve spectacle by chatting to a few neighbors, find out more by emailing Troop 42’s Luminaria coordinator at [email protected].

(Please pass this email on to other neighbors!) Thanks!

Well said!

PEOPLE THROUGHOUT MARIN have belatedly — though maybe in the nick of time — awakened to discover an in-force plan to urbanize their beloved county.

If you haven't done so already, please "like" Toni Shroyer for Supervisor. I am the volunteer coordinator for her campaign for supervisor. She has boundless energy, great ideas, and follows through with real solutions.
