This is what being part of the Good Shepherd community can look like!

It’s showing up for your kids. Pitching in at the Fall Carnival. Sharing an idea. Helping make an event happen. And somewhere along the way, it’s getting to know the other parents who are doing life alongside you.

Tonight is a great place to start!

Join the Parent’s Association at 6 p.m. at The Village Italian Restaurant to hear what’s coming up this year. From the Fall Carnival and Book Fair to Moms’ and Dads’ Nights Out and the Family Fun Run. You don’t need to already know everyone. You don’t need to make a huge commitment. Just come. Meet some people. Hear what’s happening. And see what you might want to be part of!

Come for the meeting. Stay for the community!

Strong towers start with strong foundations...and so do strong learners!

Our Kindergarten students put that idea to the test in STEM Lab today, using spaghetti and marshmallows to explore how shapes and structure can make a tower stronger.

As they built triangular prisms, students weren't just constructing towers. They were making predictions, testing ideas, solving problems and discovering what happens when a design doesn't quite work the first time. It's hands-on learning with a purpose: giving our youngest students opportunities to be curious, think creatively and build the confidence to keep trying.

Because in Kindergarten, even a handful of spaghetti and marshmallows can become the beginning of some pretty big thinking!

Our Monday morning assemblies aren't just for announcements, Mrs. Walsh likes to ask our students real questions and let them actually answer!

This week she asked K-5th graders: what makes a good leader?

Some answers were what you'd expect such as being kind and a hard worker. But kids also said things like being selfless, caring about other people's ideas, having a big heart, and knowing when something needs to change. Those aren't answers you'd necessarily expect from a 5 year old...or even a 10 year old!

Student council starts soon, so the question is relevant. When these students vote on their service project or run a meeting, they'll be working from that same idea of what a leader actually does, not just picking what sounds fun, but asking what would actually help.

We can't wait to see what this year's Student Council brings to the school!

Today we gathered for one of our favorite back-to-school traditions, the Blessing of the Backpacks! A moment to pause, come together as a community, and send our students into the new school year surrounded by encouragement, care, and a few good reminders:

“May their minds and pencils be sharp;
may their lunches never be forgotten at home;
and may their erasers help them to remember that mistakes are okay—and, in fact, they are often the most important part of learning.”

Here’s to a year of asking questions, trying new things, making mistakes, growing from them, and discovering just how much we’re capable of.

Backpacks blessed. Pencils sharpened. We’re ready for a great year!

What better way to end the first week of school? Our Back to School Ice Cream Social brought students, families, teachers, and staff together for an afternoon of catching up, making new connections, and celebrating the start of another year at Good Shepherd! Some of the best parts of school happen outside the classroom, too. It’s the friendships formed, the families who become friends, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a community that knows you.

We’re so happy to have our Hawks back!
