Team work makes the dream work! This past weekend, Troop 42 was busy bulding luminarias to deliver to our local Novato neighbors.

Troop 42 Scouts and parents THANK the community for their support of our program. Fundraisers like this one helps support a variety of scout activities, including community projects, educational programs and summer camp. The mix of topics available to our scouts (outdoor activity, sports, health and safety, art, STEM and personal development) provide a program that is both fun, and helps foster good citizenship.

Troop 42 and Troop 27 met up for a night hike last weekend at Big Trees. Briefing by the SPL and ASPL, followed by an uphill/downhill nighttime adventure. Thanks to all the adults and pups who came along for the fun.

We just got back from summer camp at Camp Chawanakee! It was amazing to see the scouts in the mountains coming together as a troop, working together on projects, attending their merit badge courses, and having a lot of FUN together! We definitely had some fun around the campfire and also had our challenges in the form of a lightning storm that drenched our clothes, shoes, and a sleeping bag, but through it all, the Scout Spirit was really high which led to a great camp experience for all.

Scouts, you should be proud of how you showed up. Showing up doesn't just mean being there. It means you showed up as your authentic selves. You showed up at 5:30 in the morning when your troop needed you. It means you showed up to qualify for your merit badges. You showed up TO HAVE FUN! And you showed up for your Troop and yourself, always adhering to the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Well done!

Camp Chawanakee sits at ~5300' and even though we are in a drought, water levels were quite high and the setting was really beautiful, providing an emerald backdrop in the day and fiery sunrises and sunsets in magnificent colors.

The scouts participated in many merit badges, including swimming, kayaking, small boat sailing, canoeing, archery, astronomy, cooking, camping, first aid, emergency preparedness, chess, art, nature, citizenship in the world, welding, leatherwork, and MORE.

All in all, the outdoors and summer camp really is the core of the scouting experience, and Camp Chawanakee 2022 was awesome.

Troop 42 Scouts have arrived at summer camp! This will be their home and classroom for the next 6 days.

Scouts from Novato Troops 42 and 27 strapped on their packs and logged a 5-mile training hike on our favorite backyard trails. We are lucky to live here!
