Way to go, Jelani! Talent Search is proud of you.

Jelani Cotton is the first Holy Cross College student to receive a Fulbright scholarship, one of the nation’s most competitive international academic honors. He will be teaching in Asturias, Spain.

Cotton, a senior majoring in business with minors in Spanish and marketing, described his four years at Holy Cross as “transformational.”

“So many doors have been opened because of my decision to attend Holy Cross College,” Cotton wrote. “I feel that I am a completely different person with a whole new world perspective thanks to the experiences I have had and people I have met.”

We are so proud of our Upward Bound alumna. Way to go, Mya!

Senior Mya Smith-Davis chose IU South Bend to pursue a degree in social work because she wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Through her internship with Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, a program of REAL Services Inc., Mya gained knowledge and appreciation for those who work behind the scenes supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

“I have loved every step of the way of becoming a social worker. The education, the friends and the faculty I have met along the way has been such a stepping stone in my future.”

This degree is just the beginning of her journey. After graduation, Mya plans to pursue her Master of Social Work at IU South Bend.

South Bend native Jelani Cotton is taking the global stage.

The Holy Cross College senior has been named a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Program, becoming the first in the College’s history.
