A gift from philanthropists and longtime Catholic education supporters Gerald and Jennifer Beeson strengthens academic and spiritual formation for the ACE Teaching Fellows program at the University of Notre Dame by establishing endowed positions to lead work in the two core areas.

“Endowing these two leadership roles for ACE Teaching Fellows is one more outward sign of the Beeson family’s long-standing commitment to Catholic schools,” Matt Kloser, Hackett Family Director for the Institute for Educational Initiatives, home to ACE, said.

“We’re deeply grateful to Gerald and Jen for their friendship and for the transformative impact that this gift will have on the communities Notre Dame serves.”

Honoring an ACE graduate who has served his school, Bishop Kenny in Jacksonville, since his placement there!

Congratulations to Mr. Scott Thomas, who was honored as the 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year by the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA), Falcon Chapter #399!

As a longtime Bishop Kenny physics and computer science teacher, Mr. Thomas represents the very best of STEM education and the impact a dedicated teacher can have on generations of students. For more than two decades, Mr. Thomas has inspired Crusaders through his passion for STEM education, helping expand Bishop Kenny’s physics and computer science programs and providing students with hands-on engineering experiences through our FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team. His impact reaches far beyond the classroom. Generations of his students have gone on to pursue engineering, physics, computer science, and aerospace careers at some of the nation’s top universities and service academies. We are incredibly grateful for Mr. Thomas’ dedication to challenging, mentoring, and inspiring our students to become the scientists, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow. Congratulations, Mr. Thomas! We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition!
