Every person is created in God’s image to live a life full of dignity, purpose, independence, and community. ❤
That belief is at the heart of the work happening every day through The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence, part of Charities of Philadelphia, which support adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) across the Greater Philadelphia region.
While the former Don Guanella campus in Springfield has closed, the ministry of Don Guanella has never gone away. For more than 66 years, The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence have continued supporting men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, many of the men who once lived on the Springfield campus now live together in community homes located in neighborhoods throughout the region.
Don Guanella offers an extensive residential care program. These homes are found in neighborhoods where small groups of individuals live together with support from dedicated Direct Support Professionals.
From morning routines and day programs, to weekly jobs, recreation, friendships, and karaoke nights, every day is centered around helping each person live their best life.
This is just one day in the life of a few of the men who call these communities home — and a glimpse into the joy, connection, and independence that make these communities so special. 🏡
