The Communities of Don Guanella & Divine Providence The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence Intellectual Disabilities Services and Support Don Guanella Village - Providing Help, Creating Hope.

06/17/2026

Every person is created in God’s image to live a life full of dignity, purpose, independence, and community. ❤

That belief is at the heart of the work happening every day through The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence, part of Charities of Philadelphia, which support adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) across the Greater Philadelphia region.

While the former Don Guanella campus in Springfield has closed, the ministry of Don Guanella has never gone away. For more than 66 years, The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence have continued supporting men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, many of the men who once lived on the Springfield campus now live together in community homes located in neighborhoods throughout the region.

Don Guanella offers an extensive residential care program. These homes are found in neighborhoods where small groups of individuals live together with support from dedicated Direct Support Professionals.

From morning routines and day programs, to weekly jobs, recreation, friendships, and karaoke nights, every day is centered around helping each person live their best life.

This is just one day in the life of a few of the men who call these communities home — and a glimpse into the joy, connection, and independence that make these communities so special. 🏡

May our freedom forever Fly! Happy Memorial Day! ❤️🇺🇸💙🙏

As we enjoy the Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, let us pause in prayerful and solemn remembrance of all those who sacrificed their lives while serving in our country’s Armed Forces to protect the freedoms we enjoy each day. May God grant them eternal rest.

May the Blessed Mother wrap those who mourn them in her loving mantle. May we always remember their service with deep gratitude and

May God bless America with peace and unity in these troubled times. 🇺🇸

As a celebration for National Nurses Week, we asked the nurses around The Communities “what is your favorite part about being a nurse.” We are truly so grateful for each and every one of our nurses at The Communities!

We are so thankful to attend another year at Malvern Prep for the Annual Caritas Carnival. The men and women truly feel the support, inspiration, and compassion from the Malvern Prep Community. Thank you to Father Bill, Kelly Catania, the Malvern Prep students, and Mary Fischer-Nassib (Founder of Sow Good Now) for welcoming us to join Malvern Prep’s mission of Truth, Unity, and Love. We are always full of so much joy from this annual tradition.

We are so grateful to our companion volunteers at Divine Providence Village (DPV). Currently, we have 25-30 companions who volunteer their time to the ladies. Within this process, Sister Susan Lindinger, DPV’s Volunteer Coordinator, thoughtfully pairs a resident with a volunteer. Over the last year, the companions have dedicated 922 hours of service to the ladies. The ladies are truly so appreciative to the companions who visit them to play a game, read a book, enjoy a walk around campus, play instruments, and make arts and crafts. Thank you, Sister Sue, for creating a devoted community of helping hands for our ladies.
