Progress Norwood

Progress Norwood Progress Norwood is a group of citizens working to inform, organize, support, and participate in local events that promote progressive and inclusive values.

Our shared values include: equality regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. These values are supported by community activism, positive social media communities, and events. We support political activism in our community and encourage progressive individuals to run for local government positions. We support sharing information about political ev

ents and activism that are common to our shared values at the state and national level. We support community volunteering and fundraising for local charities and programs that support our shared values. We participate in, and/or plan events that will inform others about our shared values, add resources to local programs, and increase awareness of social justice and progressive values. We support informing our fellow citizens about the democratic process including, voter registration, and sharing information on candidates and legislation.

Check out this great blog post from Bulk Foods on places to responsibly dispose of your unneeded items!

So, we all know that recycling isn't the goal, right? Most items never get recycled and putting plastics into another form to just to have them degrade and shed isn't really helping the situation in the long run....but....we all find ourselves with things we don't know what to do with and don't want...

This seems to be a problem in other fields then just Norwood town politics. Why avoid a debate if you really think you are the best choice on the ballot?

Mini-Food Pantry@280 Railroad Ave.

I would like to ask to share my mini-food pantry posts please.

I am no longer allowed to post in the largest local group that reaches both clients and benefactors.

This will substantially reduce my ability to reach people and to feed them.

All the posts are public, so please just share them to your profile page or any other groups you can think of.

Thank you.

ANNUAL NORWOOD PRIDE CELEBRATION ON THE COMMON JUNE 6 AT 3PM

We invite everyone to join the town’s sixth annual Pride Celebration on the Norwood Town Common on Saturday, June 6 from 3:00-5:00 pm. We encourage you to support our local downtown businesses for dinner or bring your own food and whatever else you’ll need for comfort and weather. Enjoy our beautiful Central Street Greenspace. Everyone is invited to dress comfortably and colorfully for this fun, casual celebration with neighbors and family. This is a drop-in event and no registration is required. Our rain date is June 7, 3:00-5:00 pm.

Norwood’s Pride Celebration marks the beginning of Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating and honoring LGBTQ+ history and culture with parades and other events around the country. These annual events, gatherings, and parties grew out of the Gay Liberation Movement following the Stonewall riots in 1969. Modern Pride events seek to celebrate, center, and affirm the experiences, contributions, and identities of LGBTQ+ people the world over. Our theme this year is Cosmic Kindness, inspired by the adventure and bravery of space exploration. We all deserve to explore our space in the Universe.

Spearheaded by Progress Norwood, the annual Norwood Pride Celebration has partners from a rainbow of other departments and local organizations, including Impact Norwood, the Morrill Memorial Library, and the Norwood Police Department. Progress Norwood will provide craft activities, is planning a costume/dress up promenade and Norwood Pride lawn signs will be available for sale. This year we will be fundraising for Anemoni Peer Respite in Holyoke, MA. Anemoni is Wildflower Alliance’s second peer respite and the first trans and q***r peer respite in the world. Peer respite is a non-clinical crisis alternative for people who are struggling with emotional distress.
