Over the past several months, Iris and I have had the privilege of working together on a variety of events and programs through LEAD. It has been exciting to see our community come together through education, leadership development, and meaningful opportunities for connection.
We are grateful for everyone who has participated so far, and we hope even more people will join us at upcoming events. Together, we can continue building stronger leaders and stronger communities.

🇺🇸🖤❤️💚 Join Us for Norwich's Juneteenth Flag Raising 🖤❤️💚🇺🇸

The Norwich Branch of the NAACP and Global City Norwich invite you to join us as we raise the Juneteenth Flag on Friday, June 19, at 5:00 PM in the David Ruggles Freedom Courtyard, 100 Broadway, Norwich, in front of City Hall.

This year's theme is "We Shall Overcome."

These words have inspired generations of people who dared to dream of a more just and equitable America. They remind us that progress is not inevitable. It is achieved through courage, perseverance, faith, and collective action. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we honor those who endured the injustice of slavery, those who fought for freedom, and those who continue the work of building a nation where liberty and opportunity truly belong to everyone.

Juneteenth commemorates the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is both a celebration of freedom and a reminder that the journey toward justice continues.

Please join us as we come together in remembrance, reflection, hope, and community.
