Juneteenth, observed each year on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free. This was more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a day to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate freedom, and recognize the ongoing work toward justice and equality.
At Rose City Learning Center, we believe education helps build understanding and brings communities together.
In observance of Juneteenth, Rose City Learning Center is closed today as we honor this important day of remembrance, reflection, and celebration.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity and support of Rose City Network!

Rose City Network is a local organization dedicated to connecting people, strengthening community relationships, and supporting initiatives that make a positive impact in Norwich and beyond. Their commitment to giving back helps create opportunities for individuals and families throughout our community.

Thanks to their generous $7,000 donation to the Rose City Learning Center Opportunity Fund, we can continue helping adult learners achieve their career goals. The Opportunity Fund provides financial assistance for short-term workforce training programs such as CNA, Community Health Worker, CDL, and other career pathways. It also helps cover the cost of required books, supplies, uniforms, certification exams, and other barriers that can stand between a student and their future.

Every dollar invested in our learners creates new opportunities for employment, financial stability, and long-term success.

This past week, Kelly had the pleasure of celebrating the retirement of our friend Katrina from Norwich Adult Education.
Katrina has dedicated so much of her time, talent, and heart to supporting adult learners and strengthening our community. Her impact on the adult education and ESOL community will be felt for years to come.
We thank Katrina for her hard work, partnership, and commitment to helping others achieve their goals. While we will certainly miss seeing her around, we are excited for her as she begins this next chapter! Hopefully one filled with more time spent with family, tending to her beautiful gardens, and enjoying all the things retirement has to offer.

We just want the best for you at RCLC. EnGen is a mobile learning platform focusing on workforce development and career aligned English. We ask our students to do 15 minutes a day. EnGen offers over 100 courses such as English for CNAs and English for getting your Driver's license.
