💛 Community is about showing up for one another, and Maria's Treasures does exactly that!

A HUGE thank you to Maria’s Treasures for once again opening their doors for our community shopping day! Stenio and Andrea had the opportunity to shop for our learners and bring back to RCLC items we thought they would need.

When local organizations invest in their community, the impact goes far beyond one day. It helps our learners feel supported, valued, and reminded that they have a community cheering them on. 💛

This is what community looks like, and it’s just another reason why we love Maria’s Treasures so much! Thank you for continuing to make a difference alongside us.

We were honored to welcome Connecticut State Treasurer Erick Russell, Norwich Mayor Swarnjit Singh, and Councilwoman Sheila Hayes to Rose City Learning Center yesterday!

The visit was a great opportunity to share the work we do to help Norwich-area adults strengthen their English language skills, pursue educational and career goals, and build greater financial stability.

Even more importantly, our visitors had the opportunity to meet some of the hardworking learners who make our mission so meaningful.

Treasurer Russell thanked our learners for their dedication to improving their English, recognizing their determination to build brighter futures for themselves and their families while contributing to our local communities and economy.

Thank you, Treasurer Russell, Mayor Singh, and Councilwoman Hayes, for taking the time to visit, listen, and recognize the important role adult education plays in strengthening our community

Please help us welcome Ben to RCLC!

Ben has recently joined us as a volunteer and has been working with our students as a math tutor.

We’re so grateful for volunteers like Ben who share their time and skills to help our learners reach their goals. Whether it’s working through a tough math problem or building confidence along the way, that one-on-one and small group support can make a big difference.

Rose City Learning Center recently welcomed Valeria Yraita, who shared her story of arriving in the United States as a young girl without speaking English and learning to dream a little bigger along the way.

Valeria spoke with our learners about the importance of building relationships, networking, and turning off social media to make time for real connections and opportunities.

Thank you, Valeria, for sharing your story and encouraging our learners to keep moving toward their goals.

And thank you to the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut and Dime Bank Foundation for supporting the Language for Opportunities program and creating space for conversations like these. 💚

A big thank you to Kathryn and the Lord Foundation for their generous donation to the Rose City Learning Center Opportunity Fund!

The Opportunity Fund helps learners cover important costs such as licensing exam fees, uniforms, transportation, and other expenses that are the final steps toward completing a credential and moving into a better job.

This funding makes a real difference as learners work toward greater financial stability for themselves and their families.

Thank you Lord Foundation, for believing in our learners, their goals, and their potential to make Norwich a stronger community. 💚

Our Friday morning programming focuses on topics that support and empower women. We were excited to welcome guest speaker Cynthia Jean-Mary, who shared an inspiring message about confidence—having a vision, writing it down, and revisiting it often. ✨

A special thank you to the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut and Dime Bank Foundation for supporting this program and creating opportunities for our learners to grow, connect, and thrive! 💜

We’re sharing our current needs and we’d be so grateful for your help!

If you have something to donate, know someone who might be able to help, or can simply share this post, it all makes a difference. We are always accepting gently used adult and children's clothing-especially winter clothing as the weather is changing.

Thank you for being part of our RCLC community and helping us support adult learners as they work toward their goals! 💙
