Willing Hands

Willing Hands Our work is made possible by a strong and wide network of volunteers, food donors, and recipient organizations.

Willing Hands recovers fresh produce from farms, grocery stores, restaurants and wholesalers, and delivers it year-round, for free, to 80 social service organizations across the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Our Mission: Willing Hands recovers fresh food in order to reduce waste, improve health, and provide reliable access to nutritious food for our neighbors in need. Together, we ser

ve 30,000 individuals annually with 4 million servings while mitigating 1 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions from food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

It was an excellent blueberry season here in NH and VT, and Willing Hands has the numbers to prove it! Over the course of about four weeks, there were 25 gleans across 8 different sites for a whopping total of 3,024 pints — approximately 1,978 pounds — of blueberries! According to Google, that's over 400,000 individual berries.

None of this would have been possible without our gleaning volunteers, who braved both hot and rainy days to make this season such a success!

Thank you to our incredible food access partners this blueberry season: Bartletts Blueberry-Farm, Kingland Farms, llc, Hill Farm, Levin Blueberry Patch, Green Dragon Farm, Wild Hill Organics, Fish Hill Farm, and Rich's Blueberry Patch. Vermont Gleaning Collective
