Leffingwell House Museum The Leffingwell House Museum in Norwich Connecticut is one of the finest restored examples of New England. Admission- $8, 5 and under free.

Owned by the Society of the Founders of Norwich CT, whose mission is to educate the public about Norwich history through the archived collection. The Leffingwell House Historic Museum, built in 1675 by Stephen Backus for his family, and sold to Lt. Thomas Leffingwell in 1700, shows the architectural development from a two room home to a 17th-century pre-Revolutionary tavern ending as a mid-18th-century townhouse. Interpreters evoke the independent spirit and lifestyle of early America with displays of artifacts dating prior to the founding of Norwich in 1659, through the 1776 Revolution and the Civil War. Museum open for tours on Saturday & Sunday from 11am-pm and by appointment-please email one week in ahead to [email protected]

The Leffingwell House Museum and the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop are open tomorrow October 24 and on October 31 from 11-3. If you have not yet visited us, you should! Only 2 more weekends before we close for the winter- except for special events or tours.

We would like to give a huge hip hip huzzah to the supporters of our Leffingwell Scarecrow Garden for Heat! Some of you have been supporting our history in the garden for over 10 years! Thanks to your generosity we can keep the museum at an ambient temperature to protect our 350 year old structure and all the historic artifacts that are preserved and displayed inside! Thank you for your continued support of our history!...and There is always more room for more scarecrows!

Join us at Leffingwell House Museum in November to see 'Write Me At Every Opportunity' a new Revolutionary era play By John Long.
The play is based on the actual letters of husband and wife, Nathan and Lois Peters, from Preston, CT written during the American Revolutionary War. Loneliness, longing, and loyalty come alive in their correspondence as audiences sit mere feet away from the actors in an authentic setting.
Performances to be held at Long Society Meetinghouse and Leffingwell House Museum. Please see below for exact details and ticket links.
The runtime of each performance is approximately 1 hour.
Reservations required. Seating Limited. General admission.
