A parent’s mental health plays a powerful role in the well-being of the whole family.

When parents are navigating depression, anxiety, trauma or high stress, it can affect their ability to show up in the ways they want to for their children. This can influence a child’s emotional, social and behavioral development – especially when stress makes it harder to provide the warm, responsive care kids need to feel secure.

But support changes everything.

At The Family Place, our Clinical Services team understands that caring for parents is just as important as caring for children. That’s why we offer individual counseling for parents and caregivers – because when parents are supported, families are stronger.

If you or someone you love is struggling, you’re not alone – and help is available. Talking about what you’re feeling can be a powerful first step. Reaching out is not a weakness; it’s a way forward.

At The Family Place, our Child & Family Therapy Services team provides a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for children, teens, and families to process challenges, build coping skills and strengthen connections.

If you need immediate support, you can call or text 988, the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, anytime.

Mental health challenges affect every age group – and too often, care comes too late. Only half of people with mental health disorders receive treatment in any given year. In fact, the average delay between symptom onset and treatment is 11 years.

Early intervention matters. When children, youth and families get support sooner, outcomes improve across school, work and life.

The Family Place offers child and family therapy designed to meet families where they are—building skills, strengthening relationships and supporting long-term well-being.
