💕If you hate Lyme disease, you should LOVE possums. These ancient creatures have been living here a lot longer than we have (literally: they are probably 10,000,000 years older than primates). Here's why we love them:

- each possum eats thousands of ticks each year
- they are nearly resistant to rabies (their body temp is too low)
- they clean up after roadkill
- they clean up rotted fruit that could transmit fungal spores to your garden plants and trees

If you want to help them, don't use rodenticide (rat poison boxes), don't use lawn chemicals, and keep a brush or wildlife pile with fallen branches and lawn clippings somewhere on your yard.

Tuesday is packed at the Marshfield Fair!

Join us for Senior Day (62 and over are free to enter), sponsored by Sullivan Tire and Auto Service, plus a full day of music, demonstrations, contests and family fun.

A few highlights:
• Bingo at 2:00 PM
• The Fabulous Schlittons from 2:00–5:00 PM
• Retro Polatin from 3:00–6:00 PM
• Pit Bike Racing/Practice at 5:00 PM
• That 60’s Band from 6:00–9:00 PM
• Lance Gifford Magic Show at 8:30 PM
• Unlimited ride wristband from 6pm to close

And don’t forget the daily shows, Kids Tent, animal demonstrations and more happening throughout the fairgrounds.

Monday schedule: the ☀️ is shining today and there’s a lot happening at the Marshfield Fair you don’t want to miss.

Monday’s schedule includes live music, free kids activities, magic shows, strolling performers, agricultural exhibits and more — plus tonight’s Demolition Derby at 6:45 p.m. in the Grandstand (thank you Rockland Trust)

☠ NIGHTMARE. This is what keeps us up at night. Black swallow wort pods are getting ready to open; each one has 1000+ seeds that scatter in the wind. Yikes.

This plant is an environmental catastrophe--and is spreading rapidly in MA. In our region, Hull is the town most affected, followed by Weymouth, Hingham, Scituate, and Cohasset.

Please scout your neighborhood now and remove any green pods you see, throwing them away in a sealed trash bag. If you see brown pods, hurry! And if they are open with visible fluffy seeds, you can use packing tape to make sure none of the seeds go airborne as you pluck them and throw them out.

Staying active doesn't always mean going to the gym. Some of the healthiest habits come from the small choices we make throughout the day.

Finding simple ways to move a little more can boost your energy, improve your mood, and benefit your overall health.

🚶 Wellness Tip: Look for one easy way to add more movement to your day. You could:
🟡 Park a little farther from the entrance.
🟡 Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
🟡 Stand up while taking a phone call.
🟡 Use a standing desk for part of the day.
🟡 Take a five-minute walk during your lunch break.

Small changes may seem insignificant on their own, but over time they can make a big difference.

Fair season is here and the 158th Marshfield Fair is just 3 days away from opening! We’re excited to have a display again this year! Live music is a huge part of the Marshfield Fair, and this year we’re bringing you TWO full weekends of it!

🎸 North River Blues Festival | August 22 & 23
Celebrating three decades of great blues with two days of live performances from some incredible local, regional and national artists. Music runs 12–8 PM both days.

🎷 Jazz Festival | August 29 & 30
Close out the Fair with a weekend of live jazz, great musicians and the perfect soundtrack for your final Fair weekend.

Best of all? The music is included with your Fair admission, so come for the festival and spend the rest of the day enjoying everything the Marshfield Fair has to offer — rides, food, exhibits, agriculture and more.

⏰ Scholarship Deadline Approaching!⏰

The deadline for Massachusetts State Grange Educational Aid Fund full-time scholarship applications is June 25.

If you are a Grange member planning to attend college this fall, don’t miss the opportunity to apply for financial support through the State Grange scholarship program.

Scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of Junior, Subordinate, and Pomona Granges, along with individual donors who help invest in the future of our members.
