We have created a climate action team that isn't just dedicated to direct action in the form of strikes!

When we do hold strikes again, we will continue to use this page. Until then, head over to our new page and like it to follow our work in climate justice, climate education, and more about how to get involved with the team.

We started as Norway Climate Strike and have evolved and grown under the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy.

We are western Maine's youth climate action team, operating out of Norway, ME.

We welcome youth from all over western Maine to join us in learning about climate action, climate justice, climate stories, and to work with us to propel our youth voices into local, regional, and statewide conversations.

We seek safe, just, and promising futures. The youth voice is an important part of every community and our mission is to support and educate each other to be better prepared to share what we learn and know about the climate crisis.

Thank you to CEBE for helping form and support our group, and to Maine Youth for Climate Justice for expanding the knowledge and power of the youth voice all over the state of Maine.

Look out for our website as a climate action page on the CEBE website, coming soon!

The Norway Youth Climate Action team is conducting a survey to find out more about how local young people and adults are feeling/learning about climate change, if it's being talked about at home, at school, or in the workplace, and if students and young people feel like they have the resources, tools, and support needed to learn, talk to adults about climate, to take action locally, and to feel safe as they navigate their futures.

The survey is split into two areas, based on age. If you identify as "youth" (under 30) the questions will be specific to your experience as a young person interacting with adults and peers about climate change. If you identify as 30+ your set of questions will be about your experience interacting with the youth and climate in Western Maine.

If you would like to share your story and provide the team with data which will inform them on what is truly helpful to the community in local legislation, presentations, workshops, climate curriculum, and team building please click on the link below!

We created this survey to find out how our peers are feeling about climate change, if it's being talked about at home, at school, or in the workplace, and if students and young people feel like they have the resources, tools, and support needed to learn, talk to adults about climate, to take action....

Next Statewide Call - Climate Emergency Teach In: Tuesday October 20th at 4pm

Join Maine Youth for Climate Justice (MYCJ) for their next Statewide Call! These monthly calls are great spaces to get to know MYCJ and meet other youth who are interested in climate justice issues. On this call, MYCJ’s Climate Justice Fellow will be leading a section on the intersection of climate justice and anti-racism work.

In Norway, our team is working on how and what it will look like to urge our town to declare a climate emergency. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn from other eco-teams and youth around Maine that have successfully passed climate emergency resolutions in their towns.

Message us if you’re a young person interested in attending and we’ll send you the call link!

Our strike on Friday may have been small (and maybe it was better that it was due to our circumstances this year) but we have an amazing and tightknit community here in Norway.

So grateful for each and every person that came out, kept distanced, chanted, marched on Main St., and stood up for something we can all get behind - climate justice.

Stay tuned for more info on regular meetings via Zoom about how we can work on a climate emergency resolution declaration in Norway!
