We are Lifetime Learners Institute at Connecticut State Community College Norwalk. But our name doesn’t tell our story. People like you do. People like you, your friends, and your neighbors. They founded LLI in 1992, and since then successive waves of volunteers and educators have built it into one of the most vibrant and longest continually operating and independent organizations of its kind. T DO WE DO? Simply put, our mission is to inspire and facilitate the joy of lifetime learning, personal growth, and social connection for adults fifty and over. We do that by offering a full complement of the highest quality classes throughout the year, with sessions starting every fall, winter, spring and summer. Courses range from art history, studio art, film studies and pop culture to history, politics, science, and more. Three of the four sessions also feature a free-to-members Lunch and Learn Program, with new speakers and topics each week. And all our speakers and instructors are carefully selected for their proven experience and expertise. Many are current and former educators, university professors, and LLI veterans. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT? Almost every other adult learning program like ours is owned or operated by a third-party institution such as a college, a business, or a consortium of some kind, but LLI is a 100% member supported and administered program. Volunteer committees design our curriculum, recruit our instructors, create the special events we host year-round, and work on the new technologies that allow us to offer classes not only on-campus but also remotely in on-line and hybrid formats. While our partnership with CT State Community College Norwalk gives us use of campus classrooms for our onsite courses and provides our members with facility access to the college library and fitness center too.
