IBO WELCOMES THREE NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The International Bowhunting Organization is proud to welcome Randy Irvine, Tom Prody, and Joshua Blair to the IBO Board of Directors!

Each brings a unique background, years of experience, and a strong commitment to archery and the IBO. Their knowledge and leadership will provide valuable perspectives as we continue strengthening our programs, expanding opportunities for archers, and building for the future.

RANDY IRVINE – Board Member

Longtime IBO traditional archer Randy Irvine of West Virginia brings decades of experience with the IBO to the Board.

Randy is a multi-class IBO Traditional World Champion, National Triple Crown Champion, IBO Shooter of the Year, West Virginia IBO State Representative, and longtime advocate and adviser for IBO traditional archery.

His experience as a competitor, state representative, and leader within the traditional archery community will be a tremendous resource as we continue supporting and growing all facets of the IBO.

TOM PRODY – Board Member

Longtime IBO team member Tom Prody of Pennsylvania has served as a Pennsylvania IBO State Representative and has played an important role in the continued success of the IBO in Pennsylvania.

Tom, along with his wife Julie, has been instrumental in hosting the 2nd Leg of the IBO National Triple Crown at Two-Mile Run County Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, as well as IBO World Qualifiers. As both a competitor and an experienced tournament host, Tom brings firsthand knowledge of many different sides of the IBO.

His years of service, leadership, and event experience will be a valuable addition to the Board.

JOSHUA BLAIR – Board Member

Joshua Blair of Lancaster, Ohio, joined the IBO team in 2022 and currently serves as the Director of the IBO 3D Challenge. Prior to joining the IBO, Josh spent 15 years as an archery coach at Fairfield Christian Academy.

Since joining our team, Josh has played an important role in growing our youth programs and expanding opportunities for young archers and families to experience 3D archery. His coaching experience, knowledge of youth archery, and enthusiasm for growing the sport will bring an important perspective to the Board.

From youth archery and the IBO 3D Challenge to traditional archery, state leadership, and national tournament operations, Randy, Tom, and Joshua bring a tremendous range of experience to the IBO Board of Directors.

IBO ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

After 14 years of dedicated leadership, Bryan Marcum is retiring as President of the International Bowhunting Organization, and Ryan Bass will assume the role of President.

Few people have experienced the IBO from as many perspectives as Bryan — professional competitor, National Champion, World Champion, IBO Director and finally President. Bryan brought a competitor’s perspective and a deep commitment to bowhunting and 3D archery to his leadership of the organization.

I have full confidence that Ryan Bass, the newly elected officers, and the Board of Directors will do a great job and continue our mission to promote, encourage, and foster the sport of Bowhunting. As we turn the page to begin a new chapter, know that the IBO will be guided by the same core values that I have followed for the past 14 years: God, Family, and Country."

We sincerely thank Bryan for his leadership, dedication, and years of service to the IBO. His contributions have helped shape the organization we know today and created a strong foundation for its future.

Ryan Bass assumes the presidency after 10 years as part of the IBO leadership team, serving on the Board of Directors, as Vice President, and as Director of the IBO 3D Challenge program. A retired South Carolina Department of Natural Resources law enforcement officer, Ryan spent 25 years in law enforcement and has a long history of program development which included youth shooting sports, specifically youth archery.

2027 IBO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP — 3RD LEG

We’re excited to announce that the 3rd Leg of the 2027 IBO National Championship is returning to Cacapon Resort State Park in West Virginia!

We are currently finalizing the remainder of the 2027 IBO schedule and will be announcing all dates and locations soon!

Stay tuned — 2027 is already shaping up to be a great year!

Each year after the season, we like to share "Things heard on the range" on the IBO - Genesis page.

Working with kids throughout the season always gives us some great material. However the best of the year came from a hiker during IBO World setup.

While setting up our ranges, we’re often stopped by people who are curious about what we’re doing or want to know more about our event.

A lady hiking the trails stopped and asked what was going on. I explained a little about our organization and told her we were setting up for a 3D archery tournament.

She looked at me completely shocked and asked...

“With REAL arrows?” 😂🏹

VETERANS — JOIN US ON THE RANGE!

If you’re a veteran and haven’t joined our IBO Veterans Class, we welcome you to start the 2027 season with us!

Our VET Class is growing, and we’d love to see even more of our veterans step to the stake this season.

IBO VET Class Rule:
“This is an optional class for any archer who is a current member of, or has previously served honorably in the armed forces. Equipment shall consist of a compound, recurve, or longbow shot with no restriction on sights, stabilizers, or style of release. VET archers will shoot from the red stake.”

THIS… This is what makes our sport unlike any other.

At the conclusion of the IBO 3rd Leg, one young lady became an instant fan of Emily, Dan, and Levi—and for good reason!

As Emily was walking by, she stopped to meet her, signed her Mathews award check, and gave it to her. Then Dan and Levi came along, signed their plaques and gave those to her as well!

No one asked them to do it. There was no spotlight or expectation. It was simply three competitors taking a few moments to make a young archer feel incredibly special.

That young lady went home with some pretty amazing souvenirs, but more importantly, she went home with a memory she’ll probably never forget.

Thank you, Emily, Dan, and Levi, for being such great ambassadors for archery and for reminding all of us what makes the IBO family so special.

Moments like this are how we inspire the next generation.

2026 Jim Merritt Impact Award

On Wednesday of the IBO World Championship, we had the honor of presenting the 2026 Jim Merritt Impact Award to Ronnie Ralston.

We want to once again congratulate Ronnie and thank him for everything he does for the IBO and the sport of 3D archery. His dedication, willingness to help, and commitment to our organization and its members truly represent the spirit of this award.

We were honored to have Jim Merritt’s wife, Jane, and daughter, Amanda, join us during the week. Having them there helped remind us of Jim’s lasting impact on the IBO and why this award means so much.

We were fortunate to receive several outstanding nominations this year. Each nominee has made a meaningful impact on the IBO and the sport of 3D archery, and we sincerely thank them for the time, dedication, and effort they continue to give.
