Oldway Sessions Ballroom Workshop
September 19th, 4pm-6pm - 650 West Ave, Norwalk CT - Ages 18+

Join us for an exploratory workshop of Old Way Vogue Performance used to create community, develop artistic and technical skills, and to preserve a form of radical cultural expression. Ballroom is a multidisciplinary art form encompassing dance, music, fashion, performance, theater, storytelling, improvisation, and leadership. Oldway Sessions positions Ballroom as a legitimate cultural and educational practice that strengthens artistic excellence while expanding understanding of Black q***r history. Old Way is considered the original form of Vogue performance and the technical foundation from which later styles evolved. Learning Old Way teaches discipline, musicality, precision, storytelling, performance quality, and respect for lineage while connecting participants to the living history of Black and LatinX LGBTQ+ communities.

During the workshop, folks can expect to learn about:
❤️‍🔥 Ballroom 101: History Lecture + Demonstration
❤️‍🔥 Foundations of Old Way
❤️‍🔥 Evolution + Distinction Of Pop, Dip & Spin
❤️‍🔥 Performance + Training Lab
❤️‍🔥 Battle Fundamentals: Theory + Applied Practice

This session is facilitated by Rodd Juicy 007, Black q***r cultural producer, educator, performer, and Founder & Executive Producer of RoddsWorldd Entertainment. For more than a decade, they have developed programs connecting schools, cultural institutions, and communities to the living legacy of Ballroom through performance, education, and community engagement.

This event is free, but due to limited space, walk-ins may be turned away. Please ensure everyone in your group RSVPs separately. RSVP via QR code or at link in bio.
