Filipino Cultural School (FCS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to increase education of Filipino culture to the community at large.

Our goal is to educate youth about Philippine culture through a variety of classes (dance, music, history, and more) to support the development of cultural pride and identity. Our Vision is to have every person will be connected to the Filipino Culture.

🌟 Registration is now open for the FCS Youth Summer Program 2026! This summer, our kids will speak Tagalog, dance, create, and connect — all while celebrating what it means to be Filipino. The theme this year is People Power: Noon, Ngayon, Bukas — a beautiful reminder that our culture and community are worth passing down.

🌟 Building Our Future Together 🌟

Today, our FCS family came together for a powerful workshop to vision cast, reflect, and plan for the future of our Filipino Cultural School! 💛🤍💙

A huge thank you to our incredible facilitator for guiding us through such a meaningful and productive session. Your expertise and warmth made all the difference! 🙏✨

We dug deep into our values — kapwa, community, belonging, empathy, respect, and pride — and explored how we can strengthen our infrastructure, programming, and impact for families and students for years to come.

From brainstorming and mapping out our Vision for FCS 2026, this team showed up with heart, honesty, and hope.

We are so grateful for every person in this room (and on screen! 📱) who poured their energy into this conversation. Our community is our greatest strength.

✨ The future of FCS is bright — and WE are building it together.

Take a look at our summer program’s Binhi group! They shined in their performance of Pandanggo sa Ilaw, a traditional folk dance from Mindoro. Using lamps to represent the flicker of fireflies, they carried on a treasured Filipino art form with so much pride! 🇵🇭🕯️

Join us at Santa Monica College for a fascinating talk by Dr. Mary Talusan, former president of FCS and author of Instruments of Empire: Filipino Musicians, Black Soldiers, and Military Band Music during U.S. Colonization of the Philippines.

A few years after U.S. colonization of the Philippines, over a thousand Filipinos were brought to the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis to be displayed in “living exhibits.” How did Americans justify colonization through these displays—and how did Filipinos respond?

Dive into this powerful and thought-provoking history with Dr. Talusan as we commemorate Filipino American History Month 2025.

🎶 Dr. Talusan is also author of Filipinos in Greater Boston and co-editor of Our Culture Resounds, Our Future Reveals: A Legacy of Filipino American Performing Arts in California. She performs traditional Southern Philippine music with the Pakarguan Kulintang Ensemble.
