Winery & Bistro Operations Associate
Position Summary
The Winery & Bistro Operations Associate is a key member of the D & D Smith Winery & Bistro team. This position supports all aspects of daily operations, including guest service, wine and food service, event setup, retail sales, facility maintenance, and general winery operations. The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, customer-focused, and willing to jump in wherever needed to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Guest Experience
Welcome guests with a friendly and professional attitude.
Educate customers about wines, wine flights, menu items, and winery events.
Create a warm, inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to return.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
Wine & Beverage Service
Pour wine tastings and serve wine, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Ohio liquor laws and company policies.
Recommend wines based on guest preferences.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting bar.
Restock wine, glasses, and service supplies.
Bistro Operations
Take food and beverage orders accurately.
Prepare and serve pizzas, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and other menu items following food safety guidelines.
Deliver food promptly and ensure guest satisfaction.
Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, and kitchen organization as needed.
Retail Sales
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.
Process cash, credit card, and gift card transactions.
Promote wine club memberships, merchandise, gift baskets, and special promotions.
Stock and merchandise retail displays.
Events & Entertainment
Assist with weddings, private parties, festivals, live entertainment, wine tastings, and community events.
Set up and tear down tables, chairs, decorations, tents, and event equipment.
Help coordinate event activities to ensure smooth operations.
Provide excellent service to event guests.
Winery & Facility Support
Maintain clean and organized indoor and outdoor guest areas.
Clean tasting rooms, dining areas, restrooms, patios, and event spaces.
Assist with opening and closing duties.
Stock supplies and monitor inventory levels.
Perform light maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Teamwork
Work collaboratively with management and fellow team members.
Be flexible and willing to assist in different departments throughout each shift.
Support seasonal activities, special projects, and promotional events.
Represent D & D Smith Winery & Bistro in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Food service or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
Must meet Ohio's legal age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
