Great work Officer Jefferson!

"I help coach the South Tama 3rd- and 4th-grade students' football team. On this occasion, the head coach was not present. Some players weren't fully participating in practice. Bronson stepped up and talked to the team about teamwork, being respectful, and working together. He had a positive attitude during his talk. This was unexpected and caught me off guard; it was definitely motivating. Bronson earned his "Good Deed" certificate this day." SRO Vern Jefferson, Toledo Police Department, Iowa.

All NASRO Members have access to "You've Been Caught Doing a Good Deed" certificates to help build relationships with students by recognizing them for positive interactions and contributions at school. Email your "Good Deed" story to [email protected].

Thanks for the reminder, Big Mac!! 🐶

Big Mac wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be careful about what we share online as we head back to school!

Those first-day-of-school photos are exciting to share, but take a quick look at the photo, background, and caption before posting. Avoid sharing personal details such as your child’s full name, school, classroom, teacher, bus information, daily routines, home address, or house number.

🔒 Check your privacy settings and make sure you know who can see your posts and photos. If a photo contains sensitive information you still want to share, blur or cover it before posting.

Predators and scammers can use small pieces of information from social media to learn about children and families. What may seem like an innocent photo can sometimes provide more information than we realize.

Before you hit POST, take a second look and ask yourself:

“Am I sharing more information than I intended?”

Let’s have a great school year and keep our kids safe—both in person and online!

Another school year is right around the corner, and SROs across the state are getting ready to get back to what we do best.

Every day brings another opportunity to build relationships, support students and staff, and make a positive impact in the schools and communities we serve.

The school year may change, but our mission remains the same: Protect. Mentor. Educate. Repeat.

See you soon, Iowa!

Relationships are everything!

Relationships are everything!

The badge, authority and responsibility are the same, but success in a school depends on skills many officers never expected to need
