City Hall Neighborhood Association

City Hall Neighborhood Association Dedicated to our Norwalk Community Awareness and Improving Walkability/Livability and Pedestrian Safety

> The Mission of the City Hall Neighborhood Association is to support local community initiatives and improve the zone's "Walkability and Livability" via expanded use of pedestrian walkways, crosswalks, and bike routes throughout the Neighborhood's streets in order to enhance safety and improve traffic flows through central Norwalk

> Our Vision & Values:
The City Hall neighborhood is attractive a

nd welcoming with a unique mix of historical housing stock, multi-unit housing, healthcare facilities, small businesses, houses of worship, public transportation, public parks, and, of course, City Hall.. These assets put the Neighborhood in an excellent position for smart neighborhood growth and development that will keep benefit residents, home and business owners, and the City of Norwalk. We are a volunteer association striving to make our neighborhood a better place to live, with membership being open to everyone residing in or working in the City Hall Neighborhood

We are responsive to our community’s needs through the relationships we build with our neighbors, neighborhood businesses, community organizations, and the City of Norwalk. We operate as a conduit of information for our neighbors. By providing speakers at our meetings, and maintaining a membership e-mail list and website, and page, we keep our neighbors aware of city operations, community organizations and events, and potential developments and changes in the neighborhood. We promote activities within our neighborhood and surrounding areas, such as neighborhood events at The Norwalk Green, Mill Hill, the Wall Street Area, and other points of interest. We offer an opportunity for neighbors to bring forth their concerns and problems, providing direction and connecting them to resources for further investigation of their issues.

> Our Goals are Community-Facing:
- Cultivating a safe neighborhood by leveraging our resources to build a resilient and inclusive community and promote neighborhood pride.
- Connecting the neighborhood to resources through education, outreach, and advocacy.
- Promoting a resilient and civically-engaged community by connecting neighbors.
- Creating a welcoming and inclusive neighborhood through cultural and multi-generational engagement and outreach.
- Fostering neighborhood pride by promoting a beautiful, vibrant, and respectful community. We welcome all residents, property owners, businesses, and members of associated cultural and religious institutions to participate in the City Hall Neighborhood Association by identifying the needs of the community and promoting awareness of this unique neighborhood.

Join NancyOnNorwalkTuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Norwalk Conservatory’s Riverview Theater for our next NoN Talk 'Environmentalism or Urban Growth? Balancing the two in pursuit of a Green City'.

The debate over the proposed development at 108 Water Street raises broader questions facing Norwalk: How do we balance much-needed housing and infrastructure growth with environmental concerns? What truly counts as sustainable development? How can individuals mitigate some of the ongoing risks of climate change?

Norwalk’s goal of becoming a ‘green city’ remains challenging, as seemingly opposing forces seek solutions that will protect our community and its natural resources. But is this an “either/or” situation? Can we achieve both?

In this NoN Talks, local leaders have been invited to discuss how everyone – concerned citizens, developers, environmentalists, and city planners – can work to achieve sustainable growth. Joining will be:

Louise Washer, Norwalk River Watershed Association
Alanna Morque, Chief of Staff, Spinnaker Real Estate Partners
Jodi Trendler, Director of Sustainability, City of Norwalk

NoN Talks are live events developed by NancyOnNorwalk to provide a local lens to national issues. Registration is free but space is limited — so please register now! See you there!
