This is our “why.” Every bid you make on our auction gets us one step closer to our ability to fund grants like this one! The art you see here was created with materials paid for by a NEED grant. You can check out this installation from Norton High School on display in the “High Art” exhibit at the Attleboro Arts Museum
This is your last day to get those bids in! Help us continue to fund these amazing opportunities for our students!

Artists’ Statement:
Title: Bit by Bit
Young people today inherited a swarm of societal pressures, political rifts, and cultural conflicts. After discussing the theme of Revolutionary Art, Norton students chose to bypass the revisitation of past or distant revolutions and take aim at a future that offers a revolution that each of us can participate in.
This revolution won’t be a movement led by a government or group. It won’t have an acronym or a slogan. Instead, this necessary revolution will rise through the connections between individuals, as we work to free, uplift, and support one another. Whether it’s a fleeting interaction, a burgeoning friendship, or an extension of kindness, these micro-revolutions hold exponential power, even in the shadows of modern darkness. The large hands represent this solution, as one individual reaches out to free another from the oppressive cuffs.
The drapery’s colors allude to political forces and the divide between them. Disrupting this binary is the array of handprints, made from the participating artists and unifying their commitment while honoring their individuality. The looming existential threat of the atomic revolution backs the piece as the ultimate symbol of mankind’s destructive potential. Fronting it is a symbol of hope: human connectedness and empathy. Through this, we march forward, one tiny revolution at a time.
