We were just notified that US Army Veteran that served in Vietnam, Pythian “Pete” Daniels has gained his heavenly wings. He was NOT a member of our Chapter 56, but he WAS a member of DAV. I am posting his obituary if anyone is interested in paying their lasts respects to him. He was a great man that was thought of kindly!
Pythian “Pete” Daniels of Coeburn, VA., was born in St. Paul, VA to Charlie and Bertha Daniels. Mr. Daniels was called to eternal rest on April 29, 2026 at Norton Community Hospital at the age of 83. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, Reverend and committed member of his church and community. He served with the US Army in Vietnam from July 2,1964 until March 17,1976 and was honorably discharged. A man of deep faith, Reverend Daniels loved God, ministered to others. He was known for his kindness and devotion to family and community. He is survived by his daughter Renee; his stepson Oscar; eleven grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many close relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Bertha Daniels, his two children; Patricia and Trinity; his three sisters, Calanthe, Oaklee and Rosemary and six brothers, David, Robert Henry, Charlie Jr., Damon John, Joseph and Ezekiel. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 9, 2026, 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel with Pastor Kevin Campbell officiating. Burial and Military Honors will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery Johnson City, Tennessee. Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to sign guest register book online.
