Valley Hope of Norton is excited to partner with Sacred Stride to offer Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) to our patients. This program is supported by a generous grant from the Norton County Community Foundation, an Affiliate of Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation. Working with horses can create a powerful, judgement-free environment to build trust, confidence, communication, emotional regulation, healthy coping skills, and more. Horses provide honest, and immediate feedback, helping patients recognize connections between their emotions, behaviors, and choices. This added resource can strengthen recovery, improve relationships, and improve self-esteem. Although somewhat young, emerging studies support outcomes of EAL with Substance Use Disorder.
