Yesterday (March 18, 2026) was our annual Right to Life of Michigan "Legislative Day" in Lansing and Muskegon County Right to Life (along with our good friends at Tri-Cities Right to Life) was honored to be there!

Not only does this special gathering always give us an opportunity for some great fellowship with our fellow "ambassadors for life" from across the state, but it also gives us a chance to speak face-to-face with many of our elected officials and to hear from both state and national representatives about how they are helping us to win the war against abortion and defend human life at every stage from conception to natural death.

As always, it was a fun, informative, and encouraging day and we're grateful that we were able to participate!

Meet: Chiara Corbella Petrillo!

Chiara story is one of unwavering love and joy despite trials of hardships. She was an Italian public speaker and mother who is know for her faith amidst the battle of cancer.

She was born January 9th, 1984. Born in Rome, Italy. She had a peaceful demeanor and wanted to bring light and joy to those around her. She married her husband, Enrico Petrillo, September, 21 2008. After her honeymoon, Chiara discovered she was pregnant ❤️ However an ultrasound showed a severe malformation of the baby. The baby’s name was Maria Grazia Letizia - she was diagnosed with anencephaly. Despite this news, Chiara and Enrico loved their first child and carried the child with love, care, and faith in God. She was born June 10 2009 and died less than an hour and half after her birth. This was tremendously difficult for the new parents; however, the pain did not cause Chiara and Enrico to despair. Rather, it place deeper trust in God and they were grateful for the time they had with their beloved daughter.

A few months later, Chiara was pregnant again! ❤️ This time it was a little boy, Davide Giovanni. However, he was also diagnosed with severe malformation to critical organs and was missing his legs. But Chiara and Enrico saw the child as a blessing and he was born June 24th 2010, however he died not to long after he was born as well.

Chiara says in her own words “In our marriage, the Lord gave us two special children: Maria Grazia Letizia and Davide Giovanni, but He asked us to accompany them only until birth. He gave us the opportunity to embrace them, have them baptized, and entrust them into the hands of the Father, all with a peace and joy that we have never experienced before.”

Later on Chiara was pregnant with a third child! - Francesco. A week after the ultrasound Chiara was discovered with a mass on her tongue and doctors underwent the first phase of surgery to remove it. The second phase they needed to wait until Francesco was born. The tumor was discovered to later be cancerous. Chiara delayed the surgery in order to protect Francesco in her womb. She said “I did not have any intentions to put his life at risk.” Francesco was born completely healthy!

This picture of Chiara smiling with her eye patch is quite extraordinary which was taken a few days after she learn to be a terminal patient. She carried on with strength, love for her family, and trust in the Lord.

Her testimony is a beautiful testament to mothers who are also carrying difficult pregnancies and to parents who have lost a child. She shows that there is still beauty in the pain and that to be thankful for every moment.

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family members - and THANK YOU for continuing to help us proclaim the message of LIFE! As you gather with loved ones today to celebrate this beautiful and beloved holiday (a holiday which centers upon the history-altering birth of a child!), our hope and prayer for you is that your greatest joy would be found not in the food or the gifts but in Jesus himself - the true reason for this (and every other) season!

Meet our secretary! Monika!

We asked her the following questions for you to get to know her mission here at right to life.

❓Why are you pro-life:

“I am prolife because I love life. I believe it’s a beautiful blessing to be alive. Being alive in itself is so wonderful and I would even say miraculous. I started to be more actively prolife when I began seeing how other people don’t view life as beautiful and see a baby as a burden rather than a blessing.”

❓How did you get involved with Muskegon RTL:

“I saw a meeting advertisement in my parish’s bulletin that was inviting people to come and see an RTL meeting. When I came, I saw how much potential there can be for growth of the prolife message in our community.”

❓What would you tell someone who is considering being pro-life or wants to understand the movement better:

“Being for life is what everyone needs to stand for! If you’re considering being prolife and leaning into that, that’s great! Keep it up! I encourage you to keep asking yourself questions: What is life? What is the value of human life? When does life begin? I’d urge you to watch debates & discussions online and ask your friends and family why they are or are not pro-life. Another piece of advice is do not be afraid to defend and fight for the truth, even if it’s viewed as “unpopular” or if people criticize you. If standing for the simple truth that human life is precious, beautiful, sacred, and begins at conception, brings hatred or rejection from the world, remember, there’s nothing wrong with you; there’s something deeply wrong with the world.”

❓Additional information you’d like to share about yourself - hobbies, favorite quote, or what you love about serving the team:

“ I enjoy photography, reading, spending time with family and friends. Trying to get closer to God each day. My favorite quotes right now are:

“The measure of love, is to love without measure” - St. Augustine

&

“Love and sacrifice are closely linked, like the sun and the light. We cannot love without suffering and we cannot suffer without love.” St. Gianna Molla

Like so many others in our nation right now, we grieve the recent and terribly tragic loss of Charlie Kirk, who was both a strong proponent of biblical family values and a bold witness for the sanctity of human life. He was truly a champion for life in our culture and he will be greatly missed by multitudes of people whose lives he touched. Our hope, however, is that hearts will continue to be stirred by his powerful legacy of truth-speaking, and that many more people who cherish God's gift of life as Charlie did will rise up to become defenders of life in their own communities.

We honor the life of Charlie Kirk — a fearless defender of the unborn and a voice that inspired countless young people to stand for life. 💔
