🧼✈️ Last Saturday, the West Michigan Flying Club held our annual Spring Cleaning Day! We had a great turnout, with several members volunteering their time to help wash and detail our aircraft.
✨ Our team buffed and polished N91596, completed an oil change, washed the rest of the fleet, and organized/cleaned all of our hangars and clubhouse to make sure everything is in top-notch shape heading into the busy summer flying season.
🍔 After all the hard work was done, members enjoyed burgers and lunch together—because great clubs are built on both teamwork and community.
👨‍✈️ Interested in being part of a great aviation community? We’re always accepting applications for new members! Come join an incredible group of pilots and aviation enthusiasts at the West Michigan Flying Club!

✈️ April was another big month at the club!✈️
We saw both incredible flight activity and some awesome member accomplishments!
🔥 We wrapped up another record-setting month for 2026, logging an impressive 214.4 total flight hours — pushing well past the 200-hour mark!
🏆 N91596 took the top spot for the month in flight hours!
📈 And for the year so far… the Mooney is leading the pack in total time!
👏 Big congratulations to Molly and Alex on completing their Mooney checkouts and earning their complex endorsements along the way — awesome work!
🛫 Niki has been putting in the work as well, flying some solid approaches and earning her IPC sign-off!
You can catch her flying the King Air with Grand Haven Skydiving on your next jump! 😎
Keep up the momentum everyone — it’s shaping up to be an incredible year of flying! 🚀

April is off to an awesome start for the club! ✈️🔥 Huge congratulations to Morgan on the Cardinal checkout and to our very own CFI Blake as well — great work, guys! 👏
Last week we had a solid turnout for pizza 🍕, a rocket launch 🚀, and some quality time getting the Cardinal cleaned up and looking sharp. Big thanks to everyone who showed up and pitched in — that’s what makes this group so great! 🙌
March was a BIG month of flying! We wrapped it up with our highest total hours of 2026, and N20421 led the pack with an impressive 39.4 hours! 🏆✈️ Let’s keep that momentum rolling into April!

Today we completed “The Milk Run!” 🥛✈️
Country Dairy is an awesome fly-in destination using the courtesy car at C04, and it’s just a quick 10-minute drive from the airport—definitely worth the trip!
They’ve got something for everyone—bottomless chocolate milk, fresh ice cream, steaks, cheeses, burgers, and sandwiches. You can also grab take-home items like meats, cheese curds, and ice cream treats to bring back with you.
It’s more than just great food too. This is a full farm experience with dairy farm tours, calf encounters, and even wagon rides where you can see the entire farm-to-table process up close.
It’s also a perfect family destination with horses, farm tours, and plenty of space to hang out and enjoy the day.
If you’re looking for a fun and easy cross-country destination, this one should be at the top of your list.

It’s been a busy week here at the flying club! ✈️
Thanks to the dedication of our incredible maintenance team, all 7 of our aircraft are up and flying, with every annual inspection completed for the year. Huge win for the club!

Highlights from this week:
• Club member John popped the question while flying our club 172 💍
• Caleb completed his first flight lesson 👏
• Several Commercial night cross-countries into DTW 🌙, and the river tour!
• Lots of Mooney time
• Jonah and Troy completed their IPCs
• And… we hit our highest flight hours of 2026 so far this March! 📈
Love seeing the momentum, the memories being made, and our community continuing to grow. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved—now’s the time!

Exciting weekend for several of our club members! 🎉✈️

Colin celebrated his 17th birthday in a big way by completing his long solo cross-country to KTVC—a huge milestone in his journey towards becoming a private pilot!

Mackenzie also reached a major achievement, completing her first solo cross-country to Y70.

And congratulations to Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot Troy for completing his Cardinal checkout. We even made a stop at San Francisco Latin American Cuisine for a fantastic meal along the way!

It’s always great to see our members hitting big goals and continuing to grow as pilots! 👏
