TUNE To promote and improve the betterment of the community of Northwood, Iowa "Tree Planting Day" was TUNE's first community wide project--planting 300 shade trees.

TUNE was established in 1973 as part of the State of Iowa Community Betterment Program. The goal was to coordinate the ideas, actions, and talents of the many people belonging to Northwood's various service organizations and groups. Other early projects included the formation of "Meals on Wheels", the riverbank clean-up, development of the mini-park, and fundraising for the swimming pool, 4th of J

uly fireworks, and the first volunteer fire department rescue unit. TUNE disbanded in the mid 1980's but continued the fireworks fundraising annually. In 2003, TUNE was reorganized. The newly elected board members succeeded in achieving a 501(c)3 (non-profit) status. The mission of TUNE continues to be the community betterment of Northwood. Our focus is three-fold--development and revitalization of downtown, promotion of Northwood, and ongoing fundraising to accomplish these goals.

BINGO!!! With the busy holiday season and school activities, Ugly Christmas sweater BINGO will be held this SUNDAY, Dec 7 from 2-4pm. Doors will open at 1:15, food will be available to purchase as well as your favorite beverages from The Timbers bar. Northwood Foods will help sell bingo cards and provide the blackout prize as well as Ugliest Christmas sweater prizes. Hope to see you there.

Bingo is back!! First one of the fall is Thursday, October 16 and will be a Halloween costume theme. Prizes awarded! Doors open at 5:30, bingo starts at 6. TUNE will be serving hot dogs and walking tacos and your favorite beverages will be available from The Timbers bar. NSB Bank will be helping sell cards. Hope to see you there in your best costume.
