Click a button and make a difference? How is that possible?
As I write this at 6:00am on a Tuesday morning, I'm preparing to go to work, and I'm also preparing to take my son to the hospital tomorrow to undergo a full spinal fusion. This is an 8-hour surgery with a minimum recovery period of one month. We will be in the hospital for two weeks.
The life of a parent with a profoundly challenged child can be indescribably difficult. Giving Songs exists for one reason - to reduce that challenge in a way that is impactful.
We are a hyper-efficient, and all-volunteer organization. We are focused on raising money to help families acquire wheelchair-accessible transportation. We've been fortunate to help 38 families obtain the basic freedom of transportation to-date. Now these families can go to the store, attend appointments, go to the park, or whatever else they need to do. The gripping isolation has been lifted.
As you're selecting the organizations that will receive your support on Giving Tuesday this year, we ask you to consider Giving Songs. Also, we ask you to keep the young man who inspired this organization in your thoughts and prayers as he undergoes his surgery Wednesday morning. Jack is a beautiful little man who has made the world a better place with his presence. We love him beyond words and thank him for making us all better people.
