Alpha Sigma Theta - CSUN Founded May 1987 at CSU, Northridge. Alpha Sigma Theta was founded in 1987 here at California State University, Northridge.

Alpha Sigma Theta is a a Sisterhood of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing who carry strong ties to the Deaf community and culture, founded to provide all members equal access to communication. We are a group of Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Hearing women who carry strong ties to the Deaf community Deaf culture. We are the only sorority on campus that uses American Sign Language (ASL) as our primary language -- this allows us to provide all members equal access to communication. We strive to spread awareness of this wonderful culture by immersing ourselves not only in the Deaf community and organizations on campus, but by our involvement and support outside of the CSUN Deaf community as well. We place high emphasis on academics and have been recognized for Outstanding GPA Average by the University multiple times in the past. We are also re-dedicating ourselves to philanthropy and working as a whole to give back to the community more than we ever have before. We have aligned ourselves with DeafHope, which supports Deaf women and children who have experienced abuse that may otherwise not receive assistance due to communication barriers. Alpha Sigma Theta strives to be a place where our Sister can learn to be both strong leaders and strong women.

🐬 Dolphins in the Community!

Our AΣΘ siblings had a wonderful opportunity to participate in CSUN’s Deaf Studies High School Recruitment Event!

Some of our siblings also had the opportunity to serve as panelists, sharing their college experiences and insights with future Matadors.

We enjoyed connecting with students, sharing our siblinghood, and representing Alpha Sigma Theta!

Thank you for having us! 🩵
