Today’s meeting marks the final day of our month long series, Bring Back the Dead 👻 Join us in JR 221 for the short documentary, We Still Live Here, about the journey to revive a lost language 🍿 We’ll start the movie around 4pm

After the movie, feel free to use the room for a quick hangout, chat with friends, lock in on school (we know you have midterms 👀) or take a nap 😴 we won’t judge you for it

Don’t forget! Send in pictures of your pets who’ve passed on to be part of our digital ofrenda next Monday 🌼 Feel free to email or dm us a picture along with a short discription with their name and who they were (What was their favorite toy or food? What was their personality like?) Add as much, or as little, information as you’d like ✨

We’ll see you soon!

Week 2 of our month long series 👻
Bring Back the Dead: Martha’s Vineyard Sign Language with Deaf Studies professor Will Garrow! ✨✨

That’s not all! This presentation also opens up a new room for the club! In addition to our weekly Monday meetings, we’ll also have room JR202 open to you every Thursday from 2:30-4:00pm with chalk boards for you to use to draw on or to better visualize a homework problem 📚

⚠️Despite our best efforts, this event will not include interpreters and will be conducted in spoken English⚠️
We hope to put on an event in the future with more accessibility to all 😔

We look forward to seeing you there 😊

The full moon did some crazy stuff to our board 🌕🐺

Don’t be a Beta, join our weekly meetings to discuss more about linguistics! Use the whiteboards/chalk boards to help visualize a homework problem, or to show off your artistic talents 🎨🧑‍🎨

Interested in being part of a research group? The first hour of every other Monday is now dedicated to Dr. Saltzman’s language research group 🔍 but don’t worry if that’s not your cup of tea 🫖 The room is still available to you during that time.

Be a real Alpha and we’ll see you at the next meeting!

Are YOU 🫵 interested in language documentation? If so, come join Dr. Moira Saltzman's language documentation discussion group! The discussion groups will take place during the first hour of every other Monday club meeting, where we'll discuss the methods and theories of working in and with communities on documenting and maintaining languages!

We're having our first meeting THIS Monday (10/13) at 4PM in JR221! This will mostly be an informational meeting in which we will plan out what the rest of the semester will look like for the group. We will also have a tutorial on ELAN, a program designed for linguistic annotation of gesture and moving images (nudge nudge sign language linguists 🤟).

Don't want to be in the discussion group, but still want to have the space for studying, homework, and/or relaxing? No worries! The room is still open and available to all, even during our discussion time. 📖📚

If you're interested in joining, please email Dr. Saltzman at [email protected] and come by JR 221 this Monday!

See you there 😊

Boo! 👻
Midterms are fast approaching, but don’t be frightened, we’ve got you covered with our Midterm Meetup Study Session 📚

This meeting is dedicated to giving you a space to study for your upcoming midterms whether on your own, as a group, or with us! If you’re focused on a linguistics course, chances are we’ve already taken it and we’re ready to help you out.

Need to work on a non-linguistics related subject? No problem! Our doors are open to everyone who needs it.

So who’s this special guest? 🤔
Dr. Moira Saltzman is starting a research group! She’ll be joining us for the first hour to discuss more details with those who are interested ✨
