Sustainability looks different at every brewery, and Trillium is a great example of that.
Through smart remote cold-room energy management, Trillium has reduced cold-room energy use by 50%. They also offset part of their energy use with a 150 kW solar array, use a CO₂ recovery system, and connect their distillery to a 163-acre regenerative farm in North Stonington, CT.

We’re excited to recognize Crue Brew Brewery in Raynham, MA as a BetterBev recognized brewery! 🌿🍺

Crue Brew Brewery shows how sustainability can be built into everyday brewing operations. About 90% of their beer is sold on draft and served primarily in reusable cups, helping reduce single-use packaging waste. They also support reuse through their can-carrier take-back and reuse program.

Their brewing practices reflect smart resource use, including heat recovery that reuses warm water for future batches, efficient rinse procedures to reduce water demand, EnergyStar refrigeration, and targeted temperature controls to help lower energy use.

Beyond the taproom, Crue Brew sends spent grain to a local farmer for cattle feed, recycles cardboard, and was recognized with the 2025 MassMEP Manufacturing Award for sustainability and community leadership.

Proud to celebrate Crue Brew Brewery for helping craft a greener beverage future. 🍻♻️

We’re excited to recognize in Bedford, MA as BetterBev’s first recognized meadery! 🌿🍯

Blisspoint is showing how mead can be both rooted in tradition and connected to a greener future. Their sustainability efforts include honey from pollinator-supporting backyard hives, hyper-local ingredients through their Radius Series, local Massachusetts distribution, a low-energy heat-free meadmaking process, a 33-panel solar array, and composting of spent fruit and organic byproducts.
Mead starts with honey, and Blisspoint’s work reminds us that sustainable craft beverages can support local beekeepers, protect pollinators, reduce transportation impacts, and build stronger local food and beverage systems.

Congratulations to Blisspoint Meadery on this special milestone! 🐝✨

Another honoree is the newly re-recognized True North Ale. The North Shore brewery significantly cut down on refrigeration runtime with the use of an indoor-outdoor heat exchange system, achieving near zero energy usage during the winter months. Their Ipswich facility also utilizes almost exclusively electric equipment on the brewing floor, donates empty chemical containers to the Ipswich River Watershed Association for use as rain barrels, and partners with BetterBev-recognized Pigeon Cove Ferments to facilitate a can carrier take-back program.

As a part of , we’re honoring a newly recognized brewery: CraftRoots is a microbrewery in Milford, Massachusetts, also registered as the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization “CraftRoots for Good”. The owners invest all profits “into local and regional organizations that help provide food security, healthcare and education.” The brewery sources over 85% of its malt and hops from local producers, and brew special releases that highlight local ingredients, including the highly popular “Check the Roots” and “Force of Nature.” 75% of CraftRoots’ beer is sold on draft or in refillable squealers, and 95% of its distribution is fulfilled in kegs, preventing the significant waste generation and water usage of cans and can packaging.
