The YES We Take for Granted

**Most children grow up knowing who to turn to when they need something. But what happens when that sense of certainty is missing?**

Think about the everyday things we often take for granted.

Shampoo. Deodorant. Clean underwear. A warm winter coat. Clothes that fit.

For most of us, these are simply necessities. We don't give much thought to having them because we've always had someone to turn to when we needed them.

But imagine being a child or teenager in foster care, unsure of who to ask, afraid of being a burden, or embarrassed to admit you need something so basic.

**No child should ever have to feel that their basic needs are too much to ask for.**

It's not just about a bottle of shampoo or a winter coat.

It's about being able to walk into school with confidence.

It's about having personal belongings that are truly your own.

It's about feeling comfortable, cared for, and worthy of the same everyday necessities as everyone else.

At By the Dawn's Early Light, we believe that meeting these needs is about so much more than providing supplies.

**It's about restoring dignity, building confidence, and reminding a child that their needs matter.**

Because sometimes the most powerful YES isn't about giving a child something extraordinary.

🎄 WE’RE LOOKING FOR CHRISTMAS PARTNERS! 🎄

Christmas may still feel a little ways away, but at By the Dawn’s Early Light, preparations are already beginning for one of our biggest programs of the year — Give the Gift of Joy at Christmas! 🎁

This year, we’re looking for local businesses and companies willing to serve as Christmas donation drop-off locations in their communities.

Becoming a drop-off location is a simple way to make a BIG difference. You provide a place where your employees, customers, and community can bring new, unwrapped gifts, and together, we help make Christmas a little brighter for children in foster care across Ohio. ❤️

Last Christmas, 3,923 children were served through our Christmas program. This year, we’re getting ready to do it all over again — and we need amazing community partners to help us make it happen!

Someone donated.

Someone volunteered.

Someone decided that a child they may never meet was worth showing up for.

The needs of children in foster care are as different as the children themselves. We could never fit every YES into one picture — and that's exactly the point.

When the need comes to us, we want to be able to say:

And every time we can, it's because someone helped make that answer possible.

We are incredibly grateful to HSB Architects + Engineers for choosing By the Dawn’s Early Light as their charity of choice for this year’s annual Customer Appreciation Event!

Yesterday was such a wonderful example of what can happen when a business, its customers, and the community come together to give back. HSB’s annual event included raffle baskets, ring toss, and plenty of fun — with all proceeds benefiting BTDEL and the children we serve.

Being chosen by a company like HSB means more to us than just the dollars raised. It means our mission is being seen. It means the children we serve are being seen. And it means more people in our community are learning about the needs of children in foster care and choosing to be part of making a difference.

There is something incredibly special about a company that not only appreciates its customers, but uses that opportunity to give back to its community.
We also had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people throughout the event, share a little more about who we are and what we do, and make some new connections along the way.

The Power of YES ~ 💙🧡💙

Imagine being a child who has heard NO more times than you can count.

No, we can't afford it.

No, there's no one to take you.

No, that's not something we can do.

No, maybe next time.

And after a while...

You stop asking.

But then someone says...

YES.

Yes, you can play baseball.

Yes, you can go to camp.

Yes, you can have the same backpack the other kids have.

Yes, you deserve to feel included.

To us, it may seem like something small.

To that child?

It can mean everything.

That's The Power of YES.

And it's why we will keep doing everything we can to make sure children in foster care know that someone sees them, someone believes in them, and someone is willing to say...
