Some FAQ's:
Are Safe Rides drivers and/or volunteers trained? Yes, all drivers go through extensive training and must be registered Venture Scouts (a sector of Boy Scouts of America) prior to being a Safe Rides volunteer. Do I need to be drunk to use the program? All current GBN students will be driven home, no questions asked. Should I call the program instead of my parents? We encourage student
s to call their parents instead of calling Safe Rides. We are, however, aware that students often won't do this for a variety of reasons, and thus we offer a safe alternative instead. Is the number being used a cell phone? The landline has not yet been established for Safe Rides Northbrook yet, so for the remainder of this year, Safe Rides calls will come into a cell phone. The line and number are exclusively for Safe Rides and will not be used during times other than designated Safe Rides hours. Does Safe Rides run every Friday and Saturday night? We will inform people the nights we don't run, or contact Toby Klein (847) 287-8629 with any further questions. Can I volunteer? You must first complete training.
