Audition Notice: A Night in the Parks
Audition Deadline: May 9th at 11:59pm
Performance: Saturday, May 16th at 7pm
After an overwhelming successful night with COVID: A Cabaret, we’re excited to be back for another wonderful evening of music, entertainment and a little magic! Get ready for A Night in the Parks! We included a LOT of information below so please read through it and don’t hesitate to ask us questions!
Performance Details:
After everything we learned from our last cabaret, we decided that we will air pre-recorded acts in a combined stream that will go “live” on May 16th at 7pm on Facebook Live and YouTube Live watch parties! We believe this will be easier for everyone (and their internet connections!) and will be the best way to highlight your talents. We promise that YouTube will work this time and everyone can enjoy commenting in the watch parties throughout the stream.
We also have kept our GoFundMe open for donations and will continue to share the link. We were able to help SEVEN families in the area from the donations from COVID: A Cabaret and we hope to reach our goal of $3000 total by the end of this performance so we can help more people. Also, please feel free to reach out should you know of anyone in need that we can help support financially.
Song Selection:
We are looking for music (vocal or instrumental) that is from your favorite Disney movie or inspired by your favorite Disney Park attraction! No Broadway-exclusive numbers please. The song does not have to be in the original format or style; please feel free to make it your own. Extra points for fun and creativity!
We know Disney has so many popular songs but we won’t be duplicating numbers during the show so you may be asked to choose a different one. We will work on a first come, first serve basis with song selection. Just because we ask for a different song doesn’t mean you’re out of the show – performances will be considered equally.
Duets and small groups are allowed but you must commit to coordinating, rehearsing and recording the number on your own. We may add a small group number and we will let you know the details when we send out the cast list. Please let Julius know if you need help finding accompaniment. Unfortunately, we cannot accept every audition in an effort to keep the show at an appropriate run time.
Recording Your Act:
Your audition recording will be your performance recording! Please record your act and in its entirety and an introduction (no more than 20-30 seconds) including your name and either a Disney memory or why you chose this song. If you’re selected, we will accept re-recordings if something needs to be tweaked – we want everyone to be comfortable and feel good about their performances. Here are some recording requirements:
1) All videos MUST be recorded in landscape mode. Do not submit a video filmed in portrait mode as it will not be accepted. Using the rear camera on your phone is much better than the front “selfie-camera” on the front. Please turn whatever device you are using to record the video sideways to record it in landscape mode. Computers also have the ability to record video in landscape mode in their software settings for whatever video recording software you are using.
2) Audio quality WILL be considered when making casting decisions. We want the best sounding videos possible and we’re attempted to keep the audio quality fairly even throughout performances. Here are some tips to help you with your recording –
a. Use a good quality speaker to play the accompaniment!
b. Do NOT play and record on the same device. Use one device (with or attached to good speakers) to play the accompaniment and use a separate device to record your voice or instrument.
c. The best option for recording is to use recording software (GarageBand, Logic, Pro Tools, etc) to record your voice over top of an accompaniment track using headphones and a good quality microphone.
Please send all submissions and inquiries to [email protected] and [email protected]. All videos should be submitted via google drive if possible.
Thank you!!
Julius and Catherine
