Valley Vegan Society The Valley Vegan Society holds gatherings in the Northampton, Massachusetts area for vegans and those interested in becoming vegan.

A big thank you to all our Western Mass friends who worked diligently for years to get this legislation passed.

It’s official!!!

Governor Maura Healey has signed H4915 into law, banning the use of elephants, big cats, primates, giraffes, and bears in traveling exhibits and shows statewide!

Members of Berkshire Voters for Animals worked tirelessly over the years to make this happen – even traveling all the way to Boston to speak before legislative committees. It’s been a slog, but it’s proof that these efforts are worth it. We CAN make a difference for animals!

Thank you especially to the bill sponsors Representative Carole Fiola, State Representative Brad Jones, Senator Adam Gomez and State Senator Bruce Tarr.

And thank you to all of our Berkshire reps who took time to meet with us and listen to our concerns and who each co-sponsored this legislation: Paul Mark, Tricia Farley-Bouvier, John Barrett, and Representative Smitty Pignatelli.

We are especially grateful to our friends at MSPCA Animal Action Team and The Humane Society of the United States - Massachusetts who guided our efforts on behalf of these animals.

Stay tuned: we have much more work to do for the animals of Massachusetts!

Sad news...

We are sad to announce that we will be closing The Humble Peach in its current form. The last day we will be open is Sunday, June 2nd 2024.
It has been an honor to share our plant-based creations with everyone who has come to The Humble Peach. We are so grateful for the amazing feedback and reviews we have received over the past two years. We want to thank our loyal customers, the very welcoming Amherst community, our local organic farm partners, our hardworking employees, our friends and family. All of you helped to make this possible and we appreciate you!
It has been a labor of love developing, perfecting, and scaling our scratch made, plant-based recipes. It has been an honor to show that food can be sustainable, plant-based, taste amazing, and make you feel good! We will be sharing our ingredient sourcing, recipes, and cooking expertise so you can continue to have a taste of The Humble Peach at home! Let us know If you have any requests about which recipes you’d like us to share first :)
We want to empower people to use food choices as a way to increase their health while also increasing the health of the planet and all other beings. We will continue working to facilitate the adoption of local, sustainable, plant-based food by individuals and organizations that wish to achieve greater sustainability and performance. If you are involved with a business or institution that would like to offer more plant-based options please reach out to us.
Stay Tuned! We are working on a partnership with another plant based food establishment who may take over our current location! We would be thrilled to see tasty plant-based food continue in the space. The partnership would enable us to continue making our granola, cookies and other products to have available at the current location and at our retail partners. It would also allow us to do future brunch pop ups at the current spot! Things are not yet finalized on this front, but we will keep you updated. And if you or a business you know would like to partner, please reach out to us!
Thanks for all of your support over the last two years. We look forward to continuing to serve our community!
Jett and Jenna 💚

US Congressman Jim McGovern (Representing the 2nd Congressional District of Massachusetts) has introduced the Peas, Legumes, and Nuts Today Act, orPLANT Act, to help promote plant-based food production.

“The PLANT Act will help us win the future of food,” said Congressman McGovern. “Plant-based foods are already creating new opportunities for farmers across the country and exciting new options for consumers, and this legislation will be a game-changer

By putting farmers and their communities front and center as we grow the greatest plant-based sector in the world, we can create countless good jobs while showing the world what makes American agriculture so strong. Now is the time to embrace the enormous potential that plant-based foods have to strengthen our economy and our food system.”
