Maritza lived the “why” behind our work. She cared for children while tirelessly advocating for her community. 🤍

From the beginning of our work in Massachusetts, Maritza stood with us championing training, professional development, and educator leadership. She was a dedicated Peer Mentor through Juntos Podemos, a participant in Formación de Formadoras, and a member of our National Advisory Committee, helping shape Educator-Led Communities of Care.

She was also a leader in the Common Start Coalition and a powerful advocate in East Boston, always fighting for dignity, justice, and better conditions for educators and families.

Her legacy lives on in all of us.

This feature also marks two years of learning and convening alongside our National Advisory Committee of family child care educators. We’re grateful for the partnership and the opportunity to share this work nationally.
