The idea for Humanity Pods is to build a pod that will provide the user with an alternative “home” that will allow independent living and safety from the elements. This is intended as a temporary solution for transitioning between living on the streets to a more conventional living situation. The Goal is to create 20 pods in 2021! Each pod will be constructed either by a group of friends, family m
embers, business staff, or single volunteers, with one main “Pod-head” among the crew. Groups with experienced woodworkers will start with building the trailer from scratch, while other groups would be given a fully assembled trailer base. All of the instructions, materials, and videos as well as in-person supervision or training will be offered to all teams. The goal of the team completing the Humanity Pod would be to build the pod using the basic guidelines, but to also use their own innovations and creativity to provide the user with further enhancements. Items like solar panels, propane stove, heater or air exchanger, water jug, ice chest, toilet, speakers, bubble windows, and more can be used!
