Forecast Discussion:
It's bee a whirlwind of weather to kickstart May with cold fronts and severe weather for Central and Southeast Texas. Most of Mother's Day Sunday will be dry, hot, and humid across the Brazos Valley. Morning lows around the 70° mark turn to highs in the middle 80s under partly cloudy skies Sunday afternoon across the Brazos Valley. With the added moisture, patchy fog and low clouds remain possible through the morning hours of Sunday locally. Overall, most of Mother's Day Sunday looks nice, quiet, and hot before our next chance for severe storms arrive late Sunday into early Monday across the Brazos Valley.

By Sunday evening, storms crawl out of North and Northwest Texas, as the next cold front moves towards the Brazos Valley. Storms are possible as earlier as 5PM Sunday, but the more impactful weather, including a few stronger-to-severe storms, are possible by 9PM Sunday across the Brazos Valley. Those storms barrel southward, moving into the Southern Brazos Valle through the late night hours of Sunday into Monday morning. These storms could produce damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes to start the week. The NWSSPC has tagged the Brazos Valley in a 2 and 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather through Monday. The strongest storms look possible across the North Brazos Valley, and a watch or two may be needed tomorrow. Behind the front, temperatures drop into the 70s to begin the week Monday, before drier, warm weather takes us through much of mid-May 2026.

5-Day Weather Outlook
Mothers Day: High 86. Low 66. Partly Cloudy.
Monday: High 77. Low 62. Partly Cloudy. 20% Chance/Rain.
Tuesday: High 81. Low 61. Sunny.
Wednesday: High 85. Low 66. Sunny.
Thursday: High 87. Low 69. Sunny.

Midweek Storms: Wed. Washout?; Cold Front & Added Rain Chances!

Forecast Discussion:
Hot, humid weather continues through the middle of the week for the Brazos Valley, as highs move into the 80s each afternoon. Southerly winds have funneled warm, Gulf air into the atmosphere over Southeast Texas, leading to warmer, cloudier conditions. A large trough, linked up with an incoming cold front, taps into the atmospheric moisture, leading to decent rain chances Wednesday and Thursday, as that next frontal system approaches. The NWSSPC has tagged the Brazos Valley in a 2 out of 5 (slight risk) for severe weather Wednesday, with scattered showers and strong thunderstorms on the books. The largest concern will be heavy rainfall, high winds, and large hail locally midweek. If the atmospheric lid (or "cap") holds, storm development could limit severe weather activity Wednesday. The timing of these storms looks to be the afternoon and evening hours of Wednesday.

This next cold front slides through by late week, dropping temperatures into the lower 70s across the Brazos Valley Thursday. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible as well, but the coverage is 40% at best. Isolated rain chances are on the books throughout the upcoming weekend, with a focus on Friday and Friday night across Southeast Texas. This following system likely arrives Friday, but that rainfall could linger into Mother's Day Week for the Brazos Valley. We'll still need to track the timing, location, and impact of these storms over the next few days. Highs are back in the 80s over the weekend.

5-Day Weather Outlook
Wednesday: High 81. Low 62. Storms. 50% Chance/Rain.
Thursday: High 71. Low 59. Rainy. 40% Chance/Rain.
Friday: High 76. Low 63. Partly Cloudy. 30% Chance/Rain.
Saturday: High 82. Low 67. Mostly Sunny. 20% Chance/Rain.
Sunday: High 85. Low 67. Mostly Sunny. 20% Chance/Rain.
