Last night, we had the privilege of officially dedicating the North Vernon Elementary Outdoor STEM Lab and honoring two women whose years of service helped make this space possible.
The Outdoor STEM Lab has been dedicated in honor of Lisa Hudson and Merideth Morin, who together gave more than 29 years of service, leadership and countless hours to NVE PTO and the students of North Vernon Elementary.
Lisa joined the PTO in 2010, and Merideth in 2013. Over the years, they helped turn ideas into fundraisers, fundraisers into resources, and eventually a vision for an outdoor learning space into something our students can actually walk into and use.
Their youngest children have now moved on to middle school, bringing their years of active NVE PTO service to a close. It seemed only fitting that something they worked so hard to help bring to life would remain here as part of their legacy.
A project like this is never the work of just two people. This space was made possible by years of PTO parents and families who showed up; who volunteered, sold the fundraiser, sent in the donation, worked the event, attended the meeting, supported an idea and helped us keep moving it forward. Some of those families are still at NVE. Others have watched their children move on. All of them helped leave something behind for the students who came next.
To every PTO parent, family, staff member and community supporter who had a hand in making this space possible: thank you.
The very best part comes now...watching generations of NVE students learn, explore, create and grow in a space this community built for them. 🐾
