On June 16, NT Common Council voted unanimously to protect residents from increased emissions by extending the moratorium on data centers for another year to allow time for our city zoning codes to be updated. This will give city officials time to develop requirements for this fairly new and unregulated industry.

The moratorium was put in place to address issues at the DigiPower X cryptocurrency mining operation located off Erie Avenue. DigiPower X has since proposed expanding its facility into an AI data center.
