Friday – Key Club Week – Connect the Ks!

Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is a member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved. More than 15 years ago, Newtown native Carolyn Robinson was the recipient of a $10,000 grant designated to a local nonprofit in her honor after being named an ambassador of the William and Marie Selby Foundation.

This grant became her first major philanthropic gift to our community when she selected Children First, allowing our agency to create a safer and more welcoming space for the children at our historic Helen R. Payne Center.

Now named the Carolyn D. Robinson Playground for Learning, the space has become a loving environment where our children laugh and play each day. Carolyn continues to be an advocate for our mission, helping Children First to receive an additional grant through Bank of America earlier this year, where she works as a financial center manager.

She also led the charge for her workplace during our recent holiday program, when Carolyn and colleagues donated 300 pairs of socks as well as milk and cookies for many of
our classrooms.

“When we got that gift, we wanted to surprise her by naming the playground in her honor. She’s in our hearts and we know that we’re in Carolyn’s heart. What she’s done is pretty fantastic,” says CEO Philip Tavill.
