Our offices are closed today, Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Today we honor the Native peoples of the United States, whose histories, cultures, and contributions continue to shape our communities. We recognize the Indigenous nations who have cared for the land we now call Northern Illinois for generations, and we are grateful for their resilience and their living traditions.

We will be back on Tuesday, October 13th. Thank you for being part of our Meals on Wheels community. 💙

Good nutrition is essential for staying active, healthy, and independent—and we’re here to support our local seniors every step of the way!
🌟 What We Offer:
* Nutritious Meals: Each meal meets federal nutrition guidelines and is approved by a registered dietitian.
* Friendly Wellness Checks: Our delivery drivers provide a warm smile, a friendly check-in, and peace of mind for families.
* No Cost to Eligible Seniors: Meals are provided with a suggested donation. No one is ever turned away based on the ability to pay.

Getting enrolled in Montgomery is simple! State guidelines require a friendly home assessment through our local partner, Senior Services Associates:
* Call Senior Services Associates: Reach out to the Kendall County Care Coordination Unit at (630) 553-5777.
* Schedule a Home Visit: A certified Care Coordinator will visit to discuss meal preferences and confirm eligibility.
* Enjoy Meals & Support: Once complete, your meal delivery start date will be confirmed! Plus, your coordinator can help connect you to additional local resources if needed.

The Older Americans Act is due for reauthorization.

What does the OAA do?
🍽️ Funds home-delivered and group meals
🏠 Supports in-home help like personal care and homemaker services
🚐 Provides transportation to appointments and errands
💛 Offers caregivers counseling, training, and respite
🛡️ Protects older adults from abuse and neglect
⚖️ Provides free legal help
💼 Offers job training for low-income seniors
🤝 Connects people to local help through Area Agencies on Aging

📢 The Older Americans Act has been a cornerstone of aging services in the U.S. for more than 60 years, supporting programs like home-delivered meals, transportation, caregiver services, health promotion and more.

With the OAA overdue for reauthorization, Congress has an opportunity to update the law to better reflect the needs of today’s older adults and family caregivers. The U.S. Senate has taken an important step by passing bipartisan reauthorization legislation, but the work isn’t finished yet.
