π¦ Happy International Women's Day! π¦
Lions Clubs International officially allowed women to join as members on July 4, 1987, at the 70th International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan. Delegates voted to lift the 70-year-old all-male restriction, granting women full membership rights and privileges. This decision followed a 1987 U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing service organizations to accept female members.
In 1989, Lion Carol Shaffer was the first woman to join the North Ridgeville Lions Club, and paved the way for other women to follow suit. She has served our club and community as club treasurer, secretary, President, and Zone Chairperson, as well as led many committees and events. She continues to serve as an active member of our club at 81 years young!
Volunteerism and service should never be exclusive. We welcome all to attend our meetings to find out what we are all about!
Join us the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Between the Bun on Center Ridge Road!
