North Ridgeville firefighters and mutual aid are currently working to extinguish a structure fire on Avon Belden Road between Mills Road and W Shore Parkway. Avoid the area if possible.

North Ridgeville Department along with mutual aid from surrounding communities responded to a structure fire on Elva Lane last night.

Congratulations to the Westside Fire Hockey Team on winning the Cleveland Hockey Fest Tournament, hosted by Cleveland Fire Fighters IAFF Local 93! 🏒🏆

L2129 members Jack Walter & Logan Eicher proudly represented North Ridgeville to help bring home the championship.

The team, made up of fire fighters from several west side suburbs, went 3-0 In the tournament to secure the title for the first time, with a 6-5 shootout victory.

All proceeds from the from the tournament support Ohio’s fallen fire firefighter families, whose loved ones were honored at this year’s IAFF Memorial Ceremony. A great win for an even better cause!

Today, C-Shift got to appreciate a visit from a successful outcome.

On February 2nd, two medic units were dispatched to a house for a male in cardiac arrest. The crew recognized the immediate needs and initiated American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support measures. During transport, crews were able to get the patient’s heart beating on its own again.

St John Medical ER and Cardiac teams were able to further Intervene and stabilize the patient.

Having that patient walk into the firehouse a few weeks later to say thank you, is a special moment.

Some photos from the recent Lorain County Water Rescue Team training at South Central Park.

The team provides knowledge in many different water rescue scenarios including divers, swiftwater rescue and ice rescue.

Fire Station 1 hosted a joint training session in the training tower with two Lorain County specialty teams: the Lorain County Technical Rescue Response Team and the Lorain County Hazardous Materials Team.

Crews worked through multiple skill areas, including air monitoring and rope rescue, centered around a confined space rescue scenario in a hazardous environment. Certain incidents can require coordination between multiple specialized teams, making integrated training like this a great opportunity.

The NRFD has personnel that serve on both teams, and were present for the training.

Tomorrow morning the Lorain County Water Rescue Team will be performing training evolutions at South Central Park from approx. 8am-2pm.

During that time there will be a presence of emergency vehicles and personnel.
