Texas Airedale Rescue Team

Texas Airedale Rescue Team The Texas Airedale Rescue Team (TART) is dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Airedale Terriers Each dog is spayed/neutered.

Once an Airedale enters Rescue, they are examined by a veterinarian and treated for any medical problems. This includes being heartworm tested, micro-chipped, and treatment for parasites. Vaccinations are brought up to date depending on state laws and the appropriate vaccinations for that dog. If surgery is needed to repair hips, or heartworm treatment is needed, it is provided. They are evaluated

for temperament and training, and whenever possible, placed with a foster family for evaluation in a home setting. Each Airedale is clean and groomed prior to placement. Every attempt is made to match Airedale and adopter for compatibility. While we may have Airedales in care, the right dog for your family may not be available immediately. We take into consideration your requirements as to the age, s*x, size and temperament of the dog you would like to have. If you have small children or other pets, we have to find an Airedale that will do well in your home. The more specific the needs of your situation, the longer it may take to get the right fit. Placement is not a first-come, first-served process. Many of our volunteers have full time jobs, families, and animals of their own. Many work more hours doing rescue work than they do at their full time jobs. While we make every effort to return calls and email promptly, this may not always happen. Please, be patient with us, emergency calls about the safety of our Airedales take priority.

🚨 URGENT: Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Needed for an Airedale 🚨

This Airedale Terrier needs to be placed in either a foster home or an adoptive home within the next couple of days.

We are urgently looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home due to incompatibility with the resident family dog. This is not a fault of either dog — they simply are not a good match together.

He is a great dog who needs a home environment where he can thrive and succeed.

✔️ 11.5 years old
✔️ Intact male
✔️ Tall, slender boy at 105 lbs
✔️ Seems to be good with school-age children
✔️ Not good with cats or other intact males

At the moment, we do have limited information, but we expect to have more details available tomorrow evening that we can provide to anyone seriously interested in fostering or adopting.

We know his age may scare some people away, but he still has so much love to give. Even a foster home would make a huge difference—giving him stability and giving us time to find the perfect long-term home for him.

📩 Due to the urgency, please contact us here on Facebook AND submit an application so we can move as quickly as possible with potential fosters or adopters.

Meet Eli! 🐾

This big, handsome 3.5-year-old Airedale boy is ready to find his forever home through the Texas Airedale Rescue Team. And when we say big, we mean 95 lbs big! His 95 pounds come with a giant heart, lots of cuddles to give, and plenty of energy to match—he’s the kind of dog who wakes up ready to play and doesn’t quit until you do (and maybe not even then 😄).

His absolute favorite thing? Fetch. Seriously—Eli is looking for someone who will throw the ball for him until your arm feels like it might fall off! He also enjoys walks and going to the dog park—basically anything that lets him burn off his energy. If you’ve been wanting a fun, active companion to keep you moving, he’s your guy.

Eli would do best in a home where, if there are children, they are older and can match his enthusiasm and enjoy a good wrestle session. He’s playful, strong, and loves being part of the action, so a family that embraces his spirited personality will be the perfect fit.

Eli is currently living with a small male dog and has done well, but due to his size and play style, we think he would really thrive with a larger female dog who can better match his energy and keep up with his playful nature. He loves to interact and engage, so a confident canine companion could be a great outlet for him. A home without cats would be best, as he has shown a tendency to chase them.

If you’re ready for a loyal, energetic best friend who will keep you laughing and on your toes, Eli is waiting to meet you! ❤️

* Note to out-of state adopters: As a Texas rescue, TART gives priority to Texas applicants who “fit” the individual dog’s adoption needs. If you do not live in the State of Texas and you would like to adopt one of our dogs, please check with your state’s Airedale rescue organization first and see if there is an Airedale waiting for you right around the corner. To be approved as an adopter from another state, we are required to have your state’s Airedale rescue organization’s approval, which is not always granted. Transportation from Texas would also be a consideration as TART has no transport infrastructure in place outside of our state.

Check out Bernie with his foster brother! He is already perked up so much! He is still working on the idea of fetch, but in the meantime he is enjoying chasing Ferrous around. (Bernie is the one with the cute hopping-like run).

Bernie is still currently available. Check out page or website to fill out an application.

🐾 Bernie’s Glow-Up & Growing Trust 🐾

Not long ago, Bernie was found roaming the streets of Denton, Texas—scared, alone, and completely shut down after his time in the shelter. The world felt overwhelming to this sweet Airedale Terrier, and it showed in the way he carried himself.

Yesterday, Bernie took another big step forward. He got a fresh haircut and a warm bath, and the change was immediate. With some gentle care, Bernie is already standing up taller, looking prouder, and feeling more confident. It’s amazing how love—and a little TLC—can begin to heal so quickly.

🐾 Bernie at a Glance:
Bernie is about 2 years old, appears to be good with dogs of all sizes, and continues to do well with cats in his foster home. He has shown gentle curiosity and interest in getting closer to children, and with proper, calm introductions, he’s expected to do well. Bernie is also neutered and ready to start his next chapter.

As he settles into his foster home, we’re learning more about the wonderful dog he truly is:
✨ 🐱 Good with cats
✨ 🐶 Thrives with other dogs and loves being part of his own pack
✨ 🤍 Needs a gentle, patient hand as he continues learning to trust people again
✨ 💛 Incredibly sweet—a boy who really wants love but is still figuring out how to ask for it

Surrounded by kindness, a resident cat, and his pack of dogs, Bernie is blossoming day by day. He isn’t broken—he’s healing.

🙏 A huge thank you to City of Denton Animal Services and to every person who helped Bernie along the way—from the officers who picked him up, to the shelter staff, fosters, groomers, and advocates who made this next chapter possible. It truly takes a village, and Bernie is living proof of that. 💙

🐾💔 Bexley Is in Surgery – Please Keep Her in Your Thoughts 💔🐾

Hi everyone,
Normally, TART (Texas Airedale Rescue Team) was planning to wait a few weeks before asking for donations during the giving season. But a sudden emergency has come up, and we need your help right away.

We’re reaching out for support for Bexley, a sweet Airedale Terrier who has been in her foster-to-adopt home for just three weeks. For the past week, Bexley has been sick — she’s been vomiting and just hasn’t been herself. After several vet visits and tests, we finally discovered the cause: she had swallowed the casing from a stuffed animal, which caused a serious bowel obstruction.

Bexley is in surgery right now to remove the obstruction and give her the chance to recover and live the happy life she deserves. It’s been a scary and emotional time for everyone who loves her. 🐶❤️

Her medical costs have added up quickly, including multiple nights at an emergency vet, diagnostic testing, and now this critical surgery. To be fully transparent, the surgery alone is estimated between $5,000 and $7,000, but the total treatment quote could reach up to $10,000 depending on her recovery needs.

We’re asking for help to cover these costs so that Bexley can continue getting the care she needs without interruption. Any donation — no matter the size — makes a difference.

You can find the different ways to donate here: https://texasairedalerescue.com/donate/
Even if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this post or keeping Bexley in your thoughts means the world.

Thank you for your compassion and support for this brave girl. ❤️

URGENT NEED: TART is looking for a quick placement for an Airedale/Shepherd mix. She needs to be placed in the next week!

She is the sweetest thing, and the latest update has shown she is good with young children and very few negatives (just a shoe or two sacrificed recently).

Kingston is PENDING ADOPTION, BUT... we still have several airedales available, we encourage you to keep applying!

⚠⚠ WARNING ⚠⚠ CUTENESS ALERT!!!

Meet Kingston, our latest good boy. At only 2 years old, Kingston has found his place in the world, to go back to his ancestry roots, and go to work as a yard patroller. Kingston's surrendering family moved away from their large yard in the country to the suburban lifestyle where the smells, space to roam free, and the protection needs (don't worry, just small pests like rabbits and mice) have disappeared, meaning Kingston has gotten bored.

There are so many great things about Kingston, hopefully making him the perfect fit for your family. He is great with kids, is friendly with other dogs, and is sooooo chill! We have a video of him not giving a care in the world when a lawn mower drives by... no barking, no running away... nothing. What a great boy!

Kingston needs a home without cats and a very secure yard, he has been known to explore the area to make sure no threats are coming in his direction, then safely finds his way back home.

Kingston's profile is still in the works, but you can check it out here: https://texasairedalerescue.com/dog/kingston/
