Good morning friends, yesterday the Creative Healing Fund had the honor of hosting a journaling for mindfulness workshop at Mt. Pleasant High School, and my heart is still so full; we spent time with the students talking about finding a safe space to express yourself in a journal and how art can be a lifeline during hard seasons, shared our mission and how we send healing boxes filled with creative supplies so every person can leave a mark in the world with their art in whatever form they choose, and I brought different journal examples from junk journals to creative journaling books.
Some students were already thinking about family members and friends they wanted to nominate to get their own box! 🗃️
The students were so attentive and excited to open their boxes and find journals, coloring books, stickers, washi tape, and other simple tools to begin or continue their creative practice, with some of the girls sharing that finding bracelet-making kits and press-on nails made them feel like a happy child again.
At the end of the workshop, completely on their own, the students signed papers and left notes of gratitude for what we had shared together, filling me with so much joy and confirming why this work matters; help us continue to bring workshops like this to schools, nursing homes, and other community spaces by supporting the Creative Healing Fund with craft supplies or a donation at the link below 👇
